- an easy to way to toggle Bar Codes on and off;
- puts Job Title (if used) on the second line with Department in Work addresses;
- fixes a bug that would hang Word if it was closed when you ran the script and you still had the default "Project Gallery" set to open on Word startup.

FontForge 20090408

FontForge 20090408

Outline font editor that lets you create or edit your own fonts more>> Outline font editor that lets you create or edit your own fonts

FontForge is a tool designed as an outline font editor that lets you create your own postscript, truetype, opentype, cid-keyed, multi-master, cff, svg and bitmap (bdf, FON, NFNT) fonts, or edit existing ones.
Also lets you convert one format to another. FontForge has support for many macintosh font formats.
FontForges user interface has been localized for: (English), Russian, Japanese, French, Italian, Simplified Chinese, German, Polish, Spanish, Vietnamese, Greek.

Enhancements
- Extensive patch by Alexey Kryukov to support composites (references) in bitmap fonts.
- Copy/Paste bitmap references
- Output into sfnts
- sfd extension
- Fix them up so that bitmap formats which dont support them have them unlinked
- Support for the JSTF table (sfd extension), new dialog Element->Other info->Justification.
Add a set of new python functions for manipulating CID keyed fonts:
- cidConvertTo(registry,ordering,supplement)
- cidConvertByCmap(filename)
- cidFlatten()
- cidFlattenByCmap(filename)
- cidInsertBlankSubFont()
- cidRemoveSubFont()
- Add support for reading/writing version 1.8 of Adobes feature file format (while, I hope, retaining the ability to read version 1.6). Fix a number of bugs in parsing feature files.
- The new format is considerably better than the old and can now be used to express almost all of OpenType.
- ability to name anchors and value records and use them later.
- contourpoints used to be expressed as "" and are now expressed as "contourpoint 2" (no brokets). Adobe does not mention this in the changelog. [Incompatible change]
- It is now possible to specify a GDEF mark attachment class in the lookupflags statement.
- The syntax for mark to base/ligature/mark lookups is completely different. [Incompatible change]
- The syntax for contextual lookups has been extended to allow them to reference lookups by name. [FontForge has always done this. When I suggested to Adobe that they follow suit they said they would not. They have now followed suit but have used an incompatible syntax to accomplish the same ends. So this is an Incompatible change for FontForge]
- The syntax for contextual lookups has been extended to allow for the new mark lookups.
- It is now possible to specify a reverse chaining substitution lookup.
- It is now possible to specify descriptive names for the ss00-ss99 features. FontForge doesnt support this but will parse and ignore it
- Last release Werner asked me to put in checks for glyphs that exceded various limits in the font (glyphs outside the bounding box, glyphs with advance widths bigger than the max, etc.) The problem is that erroneous fonts often have thousands of these errors, so only report once -- unless they turn on fontlint.
- Fix several problems with simplifying quadratic splines.
- Could still get control points pointing diametrically opposite their desired position when converting cubics to quadratics (happened when we could not find a good solution by subdividing the spline and had to try another approach).
- AddExtrema could go into an infinite loop.
- Barry points out that when converting something to a CID font through a CMAP the last glyph in the encoding will be lost.
- Some inconsistancies in ff python docs and reality.
- The regen bitmaps dlg sometimes did not use freetype for all glyphs.
- Metrics view had problems with cid fonts.
- FontForge was supposed to check that the compile time (include file) freetype library version number matched the installed version number. But it didnt. Only matters in the debugger, but is important there.
- Autoinstructor: fixed a hang reported by Andrey V. Panov.
Autoinstructor: patch from Alexey:
- More tweaking to diagonal stems.
- Added support to horizontal ghost hints not tied to blue zones and vertical ghost hints.
- Barry points out a free which is sometimes inappropriate.
- The transform function from the fontview (and python) would transform images in the background layer multiple times -- once for each selected layer.
Autoinstructor: patch from Alexey:
- Fix an issue reported by Andrey V. Panov (counter control again).
- One type of dependent stems were positioned with wrong method; resulting in serifs pushed beyond their blue zones and other quirks.
- fix a crash bug in the math kern dlg.
- If a tt control point were on top of an on-curve point, then ff would ignore it. So when I read things in I moved it, slightly. But that didnt work, because the instructions would do the wrong thing with it, and if it were part of an interpolated sequence that info would be garbled. So only swallow control points if they dont have a nextcpindex.

GoogleFill 1.2

GoogleFill 1.2

GoogleFill - Fill in addresses based on phone number in Addressbook more>>
GoogleFill is a plug-in for the Mac OSX address book that will automatically fill in a US address based on the phone number using a google reverse search.

What does this do?
Its actually harder to explain than to actually show it....
I own a Treo 650 cell phone... Great phone and one of the features it has is when you dial a number not in the address book it says "Do you want to add this number?"

So I end up with lots of numbers in my cell phone address book without any corresponding information (e.g. who it is, where they are from, etc.). GoogleFill is my solution to the problem.

Say I got a call from 202-456-1111 and I said allowed the phone to add it to its address book. The next time I synced up with my mac the number would show up without any details... To use it simple click on the phone number.

It will use google to try to find a name and Address for the phone number listed. If its succesful it will tell you (if not it should also tell you it couldnt). In this case we are in luck! Now I remember, this is when George W called me to ask me a favor!

SAGE 4.0.1

SAGE 4.0.1

Creating a viable free open source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica, and Matlab. more>> Creating a viable free open source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica, and Matlab.

Sage is free open source math software that supports research and teaching in algebra, geometry, number theory, cryptography, and related areas. Both the Sage development model and the technology in Sage itself are distinguished by an extremely strong emphasis on openness, community, cooperation, and collaboration: we are building the car, not reinventing the wheel.
General and Advanced Pure and Applied Mathematics
Use SAGE for studying a huge range of mathematics, including algebra, calculus, elementary to very advanced number theory, cryptography, numerical computation, commutative algebra, group theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and exact linear algebra.
Use an Open Source Alternative
By using SAGE you help to support a viable open source alternative to Magma, Maple, Mathematica, and MATLAB. SAGE includes many high-quality open source math packages.
Use Most Mathematics Software from Within SAGE
SAGE makes it easy for you to use most mathematics software together. SAGE includes interfaces to Magma, Maple, Mathematica, MATLAB, and MuPAD, and the free programs Axiom, GAP, GP/PARI, Macaulay2, Maxima, Octave, and Singular.
Use a Standard Programming Language
You work with SAGE using the highly regarded scripting language Python instead of an obscure language designed for a particular mathematics program. You can write programs that combine serious mathematics with anything else.
Create Notebooks with your Web Browser
Use SAGE from your web browser, which connects either to a program running on your computer, or a program running elsewhere. With the SAGE notebook you can create embedded graphics, beautifully typeset mathematical expressions, add and delete input, and start up and interrupt multiple calculations.
Be Curious
SAGE provides you with easy access to documentation and source code. Type plot? for help on the plot command and plot?? to see the source code. If X is anything, type X.[tab key] to see all commands that apply to X.

Enhancements
Algebra:
- Division over integers (Robert Bradshaw) -- A much simpler and faster algorithm for the divisors function over integers. The new optimized code is faster than a similar integer divisor function in the version of PARI/GP thats bundled with Sage 3.2.1, as well as outperforming a similar integer divisor function found in the version of Magma that Sage 3.2.1 interfaces with.
- Finite field operations (John Palmieri) -- A few methods for finite field elements including additive order, p-th power, and p-th root where p is the characteristic of the field.
Basic arithmetic:
- Polynomials over a field (Burcin Erocal) -- Improving the user interface of polynomial classes.
- Polynomial square roots (John Palmieri, Carl Witty) -- A method to test whether a polynomial is square over the field it is defined. If the polynomial is square, then the method has the option of returning a square root.
Build:
- Improve sage -upgrade (William Stein, Michael Abshoff) -- The Sage upgrade command can now take an optional URL from which it will pull all spkgs, and this URL can be a Sage install. The upgrade command lists packages that will be upgraded before upgrading them, and autodownloads a new version of any spkg that hasnt successfully been installed before upgrading it.
- Problematic CPU flags (William Stein, Michael Abshoff) -- Binary distributions of Sage for Linux (e.g. Ubuntu) may not work properly once installed. The following CPU flags are known to prevent Sage from running properly: sse, 3d, mmx, pni, and cmov.
Calculus:
- Gamma and factorial functions (Mike Hansen, Burcin Erocal, Wilfried Huss) -- Symbolic gamma and factorial functions.
- Update to sympy-0.6.3 (Ondrej Certik) -- Update to the latest upstream of SymPy (sympy-0.6.3), which is a Python library for symbolic mathematics. For more information about SymPy, please visit http://code.google.com/p/sympy/.
- Numerical trigonometry (Robert Bradshaw) -- Optimized floating point evaluation of trigonometric functions such as sine and cosine. For example, numerical calculation of sine via _fast_float_ is now twice as fast as math.sin.
- Floating point calculation (Robert Bradshaw) -- Changing the parsing code for numerical computation to use RDF, which is a better reflection of the underlying precision. For calculus expressions involving real numbers, redundant trailing zeros are removed.
Coercion:
- Coercion API (Robert Bradshaw) -- Some simplification of the coercion interface.
Combinatorics:
- Coding theory (David Joyner) -- Several changes in linear_codes.py which should speed up (and in some cases do:-) some coding theory computations considerably. It adds interfaces to Cython and C functions of Robert Miller, CJ Tjhal, and Jeffery Leon. Speed up of minimum_distance (for codes over GF(2) and GF(3)), the spectrum (=weight_distribution), and permutation_automorphism_group are expected and in most cases achieved. (Also a new function is_permutation_equivalent was added, which interfaces with Robert Millers double coset partition refinement code.)
- Incidence structures and block designs (David Joyner) -- Beginning of an incidence structure class and an implementation of some basic block design algorithms. A few functions require GAPs Design package (which is included in gap_packages-4.4.10_6.spkg) but calling GAP or GAPs Design was only done when the corresponding Sage functionality was missing. Robert Millers recent code on computing the automorphism group of a non-linear binary code was used to implement the automorphism group of a block design.
Testing:
- Added only_optional doctest option (William Stein) -- Added a new option sage -t -only_optional=component that allows one to run only the optional doctests that depend on a given component. Thus instead of much of the optional functionality of Sage being broken, it will now be much easier to automatically test it.

Fully-featured mac mass mailer for Macintosh Panther computer supporting message templates and recipient database. It offers everything you need to create and maintain mailing lists for different needs and send mass messages directly form your Mac at a very high speed. It uses Apple Mails message delivery framework to deliver your messages. This means that 100 percent of your email messages will get delivered properly to recipient mailboxes as if they were delivered by Apple Mail in a regular way. The recipient database is fully customizable. You can add as many recipient fields as you want and use them in message templates for the purpose of personalizing your messages. Each recipient will receive individualized message as if it were separately sent with Apple Mail personally for him in a regular way. Message creation mechanism is the same as in Apple Mail. Each message may contain colourful text in different fonts, pictures and attachments. You can even copy a HTML document to the clipboard and then paste it to the message editor of Mac Mass Mailer if you already have one ready to be sent. Mac Mass Mailer also lets you suspend your current sending and resume it later at any time. This mechanism works on a per-document basis. Every mailing project can be suspended and resumed independently. Sending statistics is greatly visualized. You do not have to deal with log files you do not understand. It is simple as one, two and three; in your mailing groups, the successful recipients become green, the bad recipients become red and the unprocessed ones stay black as they were before you hit the Start Sending button. Import and Export feature in the program is so powerful that you can import email addresses and other recipient data from virtually any files. The program can even travel through your hard drive and extract all email addresses from all your files and directories. The user interface of the program is professionally designed according to the Mac OS X guidelines.
