That status bar is just sitting there. Sure, youve got the fast user switch menu, probably the scripts menu, possibly MacDialer (eh? eh?), but it could be a bit handier. Wouldnt it be handy to do internet searched right from the status bar? Or perhaps you could do calculations without launching a calculator application or even bothering with a Dashboard widget. I, search
Thinking of something and decide you want to search for it online? First you have to fire up a web browser, navigate to the search engine you want, type it in, then wait for the results. ActionItem makes it much easier. Simply click on the search engine you want from menu, type in your search terms into the text field, and hit return. ActionItem opens your default web browser and searches using the engine you selected. Adding new search items is easy so you can customize it to suit your preferences.

Add it up
ActionItem lets you do simple (and fairly complex) calculations directly from the text field. ActionItem pipes the text entered in ActionItem into the command-line program bc. The results are placed right back in the text field. Open Terminal and type "man bc" for more information on what is possible.

Applescript? Absolutely.
With ActionItem, you can send text to applescripts. This is a handy way to route text through other scriptable applications such as BBEdit or Considera. If the text field looks a bit small, press the "TEXT" button next to it to reveal a window with a larger text view. As long as that window is open, ActionItem will take information from that text view instead of the smaller text field. It couldnt be easier to pass text around.

Create file here
ActionItem also includes a handy feature which lets you create files instantly, anywhere. Better yet, you can define your own templates for inserting text into standardized files. ActionItem creates the files in the selected format in the currently open Finder window. If there isnt an open window, ActionItem creates files on the Desktop.

Inter-application support or product plug?
ActionItem includes one last feature, but only if youve got MacDialer installed. If you do, ActionItem can dial numbers using MacDialer. Font Sampler is a small utility to help you view your fonts. Font Sampler allows you to view all your fonts in one big list. It supports different colors of backgrounds and text, size, your own custom phrase to view the fonts in, and the ability to underline the fonts.
Font Sampler does not show bold or italic fonts because that happens inside a typeface.
Snap To Defaults
Sometimes it is easier to start from the default black on white, size 12 setting rather than the blue and yellow size 48 setting you used when you last used Font Sampler. Since it is often easier to start from Font Samplers default settings, Font Sampler has a button that allows you to bring it to default settings.
Print Your Fonts
With the click of a button you can print off all of your fonts using the default settings. You can print them off for future reference or using the save as PDF button, you can print out what Font Sampler is displaying, send it to a client, and get some feedback.
Scroll
With Font Samplers scroll feature you can go through all your fonts, from top to bottom, without doing anything with your mouse. This allows you to concentrate on picking that right font and it can be useful when presenting to a client.
Combo Box
When you type in a phrase for Font Sampler to display, that phrase is cached in a ten item menu. If you want to access something that you used 10 minutes ago then you would simply select that item from the drop down menu.
Quick and Easy
Finding a font shouldnt be hard. It should be easy and quick. Font Sampler allows you to do just that. It gets right to the point so you can find the font you are looking for fast.

This script sends an XML-RPC message to any blogging system that uses the Blogger API. It comes prepared for use with Considera but can be altered to use any applescriptable application.
