KDE 4.1.2
Desktop environment and application development framework. more>> Desktop environment and application development framework.
KDE is a network transparent contemporary desktop environment and application development framework for UNIX workstations.
KDE on Mac OS X has a long history, but is seeing new life in KDE4 and Qt4/Mac by bringing native KDE4 applications to the Mac OS X desktop.
KDE 4.x on Mac OS X is quickly reaching a stable stage, and currently could be considered a "technology preview". Official support for Mac OS X is targeted for KDE 4.1.0.
Mac OS X is already a "desktop environment" in the sense that it provides window management, application launching, etc. The goal of KDE on Mac OS X is to be able to provide the rich frameworks and applications that can be found in KDE to a wider audience.
Note: A bug was found in the installer packages. Before installing, run, in a terminal: chmod a+x *.pkg/Contents/Resources/postflight
System requirements:
-
- MySQL 5.1 or later.
Backup Shell Script 8.30.02
The backup shell script copies a Mac OS X HFS+ boot volume to a target directory, including resource forks and Unix access rights more>> The backup shell script copies a Mac OS X HFS+ boot volume to a target directory, including resource forks and Unix access rights. After downloading the file, open a Terminal window and go to the folder where you have stored the script (e. g. by typing "cd ", then dragging the download folder from the Finder to the Terminal window, then typing the return key). Then make the script executable by typing "chmod +x backup", followed by the return key. (The optimal place to store the backup script is the directory /usr/local/sbin. On Unix systems, there are local system binaries located.) Now assume a HFS+ backup disk or partition called BackupDisk. When mounted on Mac OS X, in the file system this volume is found at /Volumes/BackupDisk. To create a backup on this disk, type "sudo backup /Volumes/BackupDisk" in the Terminal window.
When the backup command has finished, it is possible to boot Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X from BackupDisk. Before starting the backup, verify that "privileges" are honored on the BackupDisk. Otherwise all files of the backup are owned by the currently logged in user, and the backup becomes worthless. To check the privileges settings, open the Info window for the BackupDisk in the Finder and switch to the Privileges pane. Then uncheck the "Ignore privileges on this volume" checkbox. (With the command line, you can check or modify this settings with the vsdbutil command. "sudo vsdbutil -c /Volumes/BackupDisk" shows the current privilege settings, "sudo vsdbutil -a /Volumes/BackupDisk" lets the system honor the privileges on the disk and "sudo vsdbutil -d /Volumes/BackupDisk" makes the system ignoring the privileges.)
Mac OS X 10.2 or later.

tinyglot 1.1
tinyglot - Maintain localization of .strings files more>>
Note: After download just rename the file to tinyglot.pl and then do a "chmod 755 tinyglot.pl".
It compares two files (the new unlocalized one and the old localized one) and merges their strings into a new file. New strings, that have no translation, are put at the end of the file so that its easy to complete them. This script reads and generates both plain .strings files (UTF-16 encoding) and XML plist files (UTF-8) encoding.
Three arguments are required when calling tinyglot.pl:
old_file: the latest localized file
new_file: the newest unlocalized file
output_file: where the two above are merged to (keys will be taken from new_file and values will be taken from old_file)
eimsmail 1.0b1
eimsmail is a very flexible and effective replacement for the sendmail command that uses EIMS to send. eimsmail will only work with the full version of EIMS. more>> eimsmail 1.0b1 is a very flexible and effective replacement for the sendmail command that uses EIMS to send. eimsmail will only work with the full version of EIMS.
eimsmail is intended to be parameter compatible with common versions of the sendmail command. Currently it supports the following parameters:
-B: specify the content encoding, 7BIT or 8BITMIME
-i: EOF is end of message, rather than a line with a "." on it
-r: sender address (SMTP MAIL FROM)
The -t parameter, which has sendmail extract the list of recipients from the headers of the message, is not yet supported. Many other parameters are ignored or not supported.
To set up eimsmail, copy the eimsmail command to somewhere suitable and give it suitable permissions. Typically you will want to put it somewhere like /usr/sbin and give it owner, group, and world read and execute privileges (chmod 555). If you want to completely replace sendmail with eimsmail, rename or delete the sendmail command, and replace it with a symlink to the eimsmail command.
eimsmail works by saving the message in an appropriately formatted file in the EIMS Incoming Mail folder. An example eimsmail.conf is included, the path does not need to be quoted if it has spaces in it.
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.3 or later
- EIMS 3.2.4 or later.
