Capture Me 1.4.1
Capture Me - Screen capture tool with DVD support more>>
Capture Me is very easy to use - just drag and resize the floating window to cover the area you want to capture. Then click in the window to capture the screenshot. You can resize it, copy it to the clipboard, and save it in a variety of formats and locations. Its behavior is customizable with respect to what happens after a capture.
What advantage does Capture Me hold over the built in OS X screencapture facility? For some tasks, the answer is simple - there is none - the built in capture is elegant and easy to use.
However, there are occasions when its nice to be able to choose what file format your capture saves in, copy it to the clipboard without holding down four keys at once, or resize it on the fly.
Its also common to want to take successive shots of the exact same position on the screen without moving the capture region at all, or make all your captures the same size.
These tasks are trivial with Capture Me, but difficult at best with the built in utilities. Another possible use is as a floating capture pad - see the comments in the review section for an example of one user who does this.
Main features:
- Free!
- Globally floating capture window.
- Fast screen captures (uses OpenGL).
- Ability to down scale captures (proportionally or not).

MenuCapture 1.0.2
MenuCapture - Take a picture of the screen with a menu pulled down more>>
In Mac OS 8.1 and later, if you pull down a menu with a click rather than a click-and-hold, you can snap its picture without the aid of MenuCapture. Thats why MenuCapture is on the Obsolete page.
To install MenuCapture, drop it in your Control Panels folder and reboot.
To use MenuCapture, open the MenuCapture control panel and click the "Enable" checkbox. Then pull down a menu, and press the keys command, shift, and control simultaneously. What happens next depends on what version of the system you are running. With System 7.6 or later, the cursor turns into a cross-hair; let up the mouse button, then click and drag to select a rectangle to be copied to the clipboard. With earlier systems, a snapshot of the whole screen is saved as a picture file on your disk.
The actual picture-taking is done by the built-in screen capture FKEYs: FKEY 4 in the case of System 7.6 and later, FKEY 3 in the case of older software that did not have FKEY 4.
Enhancements:
- Makes it more obvious how to capture a contextual menu, by ensuring that the cursor changes to a cross-hair.
- I also attempted to clarify the text in the control panel.

ScreenCaptureX 1.4
ScreenCaptureX is a simple and effective Icon fonts program. more>>
ScreenCaptureX 1.4 is a simple and effective Icon fonts program. Screen captures have never been easier. By default, ScreenCaptureX saves either a window, a section of your screen, or the entire screen as a JPEG file. You can also change the default format to either PNG or PICT as well. You control what the default name is and ScreenCaptureX will number them sequentially as you take them. You also can control where the final file ends up, so instead of cluttering your desktop, you can specify a target folder. A one line caption can quickly be added to each screen shot immediately after it is captured. This is especially great for creating web-based tutorials quickly and easily.
Enhancements: Adds a Save-as checkbox in the preferences which will lock in whatever file format you have checked and will allow you to rename the files as you capture them or after you add the caption.
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.
