Draw Caption on Image is a script that adds a text caption to the bottom of image files.

It is has numerous configurable options that can be modified by setting the properties at the beginning of the script.

JCap is an easy to use application for adding captions and descriptions to your digital photograph collection and then finding them later. JCap is a self-contained Java application that requires no external database to operate.

I created JCap because I needed an application that I could use to caption and describe each of my digital photos, help me find them later, let me easily use those descriptions in other applications, and allow me to easily archive the images and descriptions together.

The main goals being: to be able to find photos later, to help me share the photos with others in online galleries, and to be able to read these descriptions thirty years from now on whatever computer I happen to have at the time.

JCap doesnt require a separate database application or web server to run. Captions, descriptions, and keywords are stored in plain text files in the same folder as the images they describe and can be read by any application that can read text files. This means you will be able to use any application or tool you want (notepad, grep, album generating software, your favorite HTML editor, scripting languages, etc) to read and manipulate the captions however you want.

And since the captions and descriptions are stored as text files in the same folder as the images themselves, archiving them is as simple as copying the image and the associated caption/description file to the archive location (e.g. burning to CD).

JCap is not an online photo gallery creator. JCap does not create thumbnails. JCap is not an image editing application (in fact, JCap will never modify any of your images, ever, for any reason).

There are many fine applications out there already that do those things. In fact, if you are looking for gallery creation software, the one I use (and one of the very best available) is JAlbum. JAlbum is one of many applications that can work with the caption and description data that JCap generates.

ScreenCaptureX 1.4 is a mighty admirable tool which captures either a window, a section of your screen, or the entire screen as a JPEG file by default, and even allows you to add a caption below it if you wish. You can change the default format from JPEG to either PNG or PICT as well, and you can set the default name to whatever you want, and specify a target folder for the files to be saved to. This little app is great for creating web-based tutorials quickly and easily.

Apple Inkwell 1.1.1 is a utility to identify your handwriting. You just write on a graphics tablet, and Jaguar turns it into typed text at the cursor in any application. Inkwell just works with all your existing applications. No upgrades, no application changes are necessary.

Inkwell lets you write wherever you want to on the screen, and the recognized text just flows to the current insertion point, as if you?d typed it on a keyboard. So when you?re working with a graphics tablet, there?s no need to put down the pen and return to the keyboard just to enter a title, caption or filename. You can also write command-key shortcuts with the pen ? it's easy to open and close windows, and otherwise control your applications, without lifting your pen from the tablet.

Built on Apple's Recognition Engine Inkwell's handwriting recognition is the best in the industry. Beyond just words and numbers, you can also use Inkwell to write commands. Inkwell provides a set of easy to learn and remember gestures that are convenient for carrying out common functions, such as cut, copy, paste and select-all, with a single stroke of the pen.

While in handwriting mode, you can still drag windows and use scrollbars and other controls immediately. The pen knows to behave like a mouse instantly in these special places. For other places, you can just press and hold the pen still briefly to use it like a mouse, anywhere.

You use Ink on a floating window to automatically insert text at the cursor. This window can mimic standard modifier keys, so you can write command-key shortcuts, bring up contextual menus, and so on, without having to return to the keyboard. You can shrink the window to a single button, which saves screen real estate while letting you toggle the pen between the pure mousing behavior used for drawing and painting and its handwriting behavior.

Conversely, you can expand the floating window to InkPad, a handy utility application. The InkPad app offers additional features for writing and editing, such as alternate word lists and targeted gestures. InkPad also lets you draw quick sketches and paste them in most other applications. So you can draw a quick map to the party, or communicate that new design you?ve got in mind, and send it out with your email, effortlessly.

Preferences allow you to add uncommon words to your own personal word list, for maximum recognition accuracy. And if your writing style is a little bit different?maybe you write your words closer together or letters farther apart than the average?you can fine-tune the recognition to suit your style.

AutoViewer 1.4 offers you a powerful, easy-to-use and free Flash based tool which is designed to display a linear sequence of images and captions. AutoViewer is easily customizable to display your images on your site.

Pic-a-POD 1.2.7 is launched to be an effective and simple-to-use tool which downloads a picture of the day from up to four different collections and sets your desktop picture. It can then randomly change the picture at set intervals. Downloading new pictures can be scheduled to happen every day, or only when you want.

You can browse through the downloads, deleting or setting the desktop as you wish. The user interface can be shrunk to a mini window if you want to save space and it can have different color themes applied.
