JSesh 2.10.5
A perfect program for editing ancient egyptian hieroglyphic text more>> A perfect program for editing ancient egyptian hieroglyphic text
JSesh is both an editor for ancient egyptian hieroglyphic texts, and a library for inclusion of hieroglyphic texts in java software. A database system for adding new signs and new texts is planned.
The program is completely freeware and the source code is included in the package.
Enhancements
- New families from S. Thomas : "M" and "O" families are now complete.
Improved palette. I need to write a documentation, but you can now combine searches, e.g:
- you can find signs in the "A" family which are both "armed" and "seated"
- you can filter the displayed signs to find one which contains a given glyph.
- I have entered some data about glyphs to eases searches for some families. Basic information is now available for "A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F" and "G" families. Families "B" and "C" are fully functionnal as far as the "palette" is concerned.
- It is now possible to use Windows "Enhanced Metafile" format for exporting graphics from JSesh, both as a files and in cut and paste. Beware: Mac OS X has only a partial support of EMF, so EMF exports are probably not a good idea on the Mac, nor if you want to send a word file to a mac user.
MKConsole 1.10
MKConsole - This is a little application that displays logfiles on your desktop more>>
In its standard configuration it displays entries from any number of logfiles interleaved in a single window. Have a look at some screenshots.
MkConsole is smart enough to close and reopen files every now and then to deal with rotating files and it transparently works around stale NFS handles which often exist after your Mac wakes up from sleep and tries to read from a logfile mounted via NFS.
If you dont mind hacking the user defaults (rather than using the preferences panel) you can also configure multiple windows with multiple logifiles each.
Enhancements:
- Disconnected screens no longer leave logfile windows invisible, but instead such windows will be moved to a visible part of the remaining screen(s).
- In case the network configuration changes (i.e. via selecting a different location), logfiles are being reopened.
- Finally, theres a new default for suppressing alert windows which pop up in case logfiles couldnt be opened (which might happen after network disconnects).
Objectscript 2.10.4
Objectscript is an object-oriented programming language more>>
Main features:
- a simple java-like syntax
- class system, with single inheritance and mixins
- private/protected/public fields and methods
- exceptions for error handling
- synchronization and threading
- compiles to bytecode for higher performance
- osdoc: a javadoc-like tool to extract API documents
- from src code, plus API docs accessible reflectively
- XML-RPC support
- Windows COM support
- regular expressions (requires java v1.4 or later)
- Plus, its free!
Enhancements:
- command line debugger: when invoking a script from the command line, you can use the --breakpoint (or -b) argument, followed by file and line number, to set one or more breakpoints.
- build: it should now be possible to compile with JDK 1.5.0 (Java 5.0)
- arrays: add pkg.array API with methods, such as newByteArray(len), to construct java arrays. Java arrays are not copied when passed to java code, so therefore if the java method writes into the array, the script code can see the result.

Gridlock 1.10
Gridlock - 30 grid-based strategy games collection more>>
After launching the application, the game window will appear. Select the game you want to play from the "Game" popup menu in the upper right. Some games have different variations (board size, layout, etc); when one of those games are selected a "Variations" popup menu will appear from which you can select a variation.
The bottom right displays the color and status of the two players. Each players color is shown by a circle; the player whose turn it is has a filled circle. For games in which players have a score, the scores are shown next to the player labels. Popup windows underneath each players label allow you to specify whether each player is human or computer-controlled, and the difficulty of computer players. (Note that "Hard" and "Very Hard" computer opponents may take several seconds to make each move).
The rest of the window contains the game board. To make a move, click on the cell where you wish to place a piece. Some games require that you move from one cell to another; to do this first click on the cell you wish to move from, then click on the cell you wish to move to. (In some games such as Checkers you may be able to make a move containing several jumps; to do this click on each cell you wish to jump to in sequence). For all games, cells that are legal moves will become highlighted when you move the mouse over them. A black dot indicates the position of the last move. If you are unable to make a move, you can pass by clicking the "Pass" button on the right. The "Restart" button will restart the game, requiring confirmation if a game is in progress.
The "Preferences..." menu item in the main Gridlock menu opens the Preferences window, which allows you to change the appearance of the game pieces, and to enable or disable the animation when they are captured. Game pieces can either be bitmap images chosen from the popup menus, or solid colors chosen from the color wells.
Games can be saved and restored using the "Save" and "Open" commands in the Game menu. Games are saved with their full move history, so you can save a game after it is finished, open it later, and undo moves back to the beginning.
The Edit menu contains Undo and Redo commands. Selecting Undo will back the game up to the last time it was a human players turn. There is no limit to how many moves can be undone. Selecting Redo will redo a move that was previously undone, but only if no new moves were made after the undo.
The Window menu contains commands to toggle the display of network and statistics drawers. The network drawer is described below and is primarily used to chat with your opponent during a network game. The statistics drawer shows a table listing all the moves that have been made in the current game, and information on the analysis performed during the last move made by a computer player.
Enhancements:
- Added 6 new games.
- Built as universal binary for PowerPC and Intel processors. (Intel version is completely untested; if you have access to OS X for x86 let me know how it runs).
- Fixed display bugs when user interface scaling is active in Tiger.

CmapTools 4.10
CmapTools - Construct/navigate/share knowledge models as concept maps more>>
It allows users to, among many other features, construct their Cmaps in their personal computer, share them on servers (CmapServers) anywhere on the Internet, link their Cmaps to other Cmaps on servers, automatically create web pages of their concept maps on servers, edit their maps synchronously (at the same time) with other users on the Internet, and search the web for information relevant to a concept map.
The CmapTools client is free for use by anybody, whether its use is commercial or non-commercial. In particular, schools and universities are encouraged to download it and install it in as many computers as desired, and students and teachers may make copies of it and install it at home.
(Commercial companies that install their own CmapServer do need to get a separate license for a CmapTools client that will talk to the commercial version of the CmapServer).
