Boot Log 1.1 is a distinguished and easy to use program that runs on OS-X to grab the user name you booted up as and saves a log in the user's prefs folder called 'boot log'.
This log is added to every time the program is executed so it is suggested to make the program part of the startup items in a user's system preferences. The only known issue is that it currently does not save the file in a common place for global accesses across different users. It is suggested that you use 10.1 or later version of OS-X as the user name lookup routine doesn't work well with the earlier versions of OS-X. The source code is included.
Requirements: Mac OS X

MacBoot 1.0.6
MacBoot changes the boot image shown at the beginning of the Jaguar startup to any icon more>>
In Jaguar, the usual happy mac icon was replaced with a big 128 x 128 gray Apple icon. It turned out that it was possible to hack a system file to change it to something more personal. At first, the proceedure was a bit difficult for the average user, but soon tools were created to aid in the process.
MacBoot allows you to change the boot image to any 128 x 128 image, including those downloaded from ResExcellence.com and IconFactory.
Enhancements:
- MacBoot is now compatible with Mac OS 10.2.8 and probably with 10.3.0 Panther.
DasBoot 1.0.2
DasBoot - allows you to take any third party boot CD and create a bootable diagnostic device more>>
DasBoot allows you to take any third party boot CD (such as those shipped by SubRosaSoft.com Inc, Prosoft Engineering Inc, Alsoft Inc, or Micromat Inc) and quickly create a bootable diagnostic device that contains any of your own utilities that you may wish to install.
You can use your portable music player to boot, check, maintain, and repair Mac OS X computers* as needed without erasing it and taking away your ability to play music or use your device as you always have.
With the help of DasBoot you get to carry all the tools youll need in your shirt pocket. But unlike expensive third party alternatives, youll have plenty of space left over for a multitude of additional utilities as well as ample drive space when you need to recover data.
DasBoot allows you to run data recovery applications such as FileSalvage, diagnostic and repair applications, and much more, all from your MP3 player, portable hard drive or flash drive.
SubRosaSoft DasBoot gives you the power to create and maintain your own pocket-sized toolkit for your Mac - exactly the way you want - on one portable device and its totally free!! Just plug it in and all your tools will be at your fingertips.
If you want a forensically sound boot device then please use the MacForensicsLab boot CD. This boot CD is specifically modified for forensics use in that it disables the portions of the operating system that can effect your investigation. In doing so it will effect the operation of non-forensics based tools in order to stop them altering your evidence.
DasBoot has been tested with the following disk utilities and data recovery tools, but will also run many others; CopyCatX, FileSalvage, MacForensicsLab, VolumeWorks, Drive Genius, Data Rescue II, DiskWarrior, Apple Disk Utility, and TechTool Pro.

BootPicker 2.1.2
Will help you deploy multi-boot Macs and permit your end users to choose whichever platform will work best. more>> Will help you deploy multi-boot Macs and permit your end users to choose whichever platform will work best.
BootPicker is a very useful tool because with the advent of Boot Camp comes the possibility of deploying multi-boot Macs and permitting your end users to choose whichever platform will work best for whatever theyd like to do at the moment.
But how do you manage the presentation of this choice? There are a couple concerns to keep in mind:
1. Setting the boot device is an activity restricted to administrative users.
2. Allowing non-administrative users access to this functionality potentially allows them to set the boot device to some external media that they provide (then they can really tamper with the system).
3. Leaving the machine at the EFI boot picker (hold down the option key at startup), while possible, leaves the previous options open and also leaves the machine in a state in which it cannot be managed or accessed via the network. rEFIt allows you to lock down the boot options at startup, however youre still unable to actually manage the machine in this state.
BootPicker runs on startup immediately prior to LoginWindow. Based upon your configuration, it presents an option to the end user to choose an operating system.
Upon choosing that OS, the computer either continues to Mac OS X or reboots to the specified OS. The next time the computer is rebooted, it will automatically return to Mac OS X and the boot picker.
Finally, for environments that require management at a large scale, or management while the machines are turned off or booted to a different OS, BootPicker can be managed via a Mac OS X Server Open Directory Master.
Got AD? Thats OK, you can leverage that as well. You can even run BootPicker from a logout script to give every new visitor to your lab machines the opportunity to choose their OS without rebooting.
Enhancements:
- Added some accessibility features. VoiceOver and keyboard interaction are now supported.
