Jiggler 1.4 offers you a small but useful freeware utility that jiggles your mouse periodically, preventing sleep and screensavers from interrupting the jobs your computer is doing. No more having to change your sleep and screensaver delays back and forth in System Preferences -- just jiggle!
Major Features:
- Wiggles your mouse every once in a while, keeping your machine awake and happy. When you want to stay awake, run it. When you don't want to, quit it. You can even run it while you're working, because you can set it not to wiggle your mouse unless your computer has been sitting idle for a while. Or you can configure it to:
- jiggle only when your machine is busy working, to make sure it doesn't fall asleep in the middle of a long job
- jiggle whenever an unburned CD or DVD is inserted, to make sure it doesn't fall asleep while burning
- jiggle whenever iTunes is playing, so your music doesn't get interrupted
- jiggle whenever a particular application is running, if there's an app your machine needs to stay awake for!
- Be freeware (which means use it freely with no charge).
Enhancements:
- Now compatible with OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
- A wider range of jiggle delays can now be set
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
- Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
- Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
- Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
- Mac OS X 10.3.9

iX Screen Effects 1.2
iX Screen Effects - Classic screensavers remade with Cocoa/Quartz/OpenGL more>>
Macintosh systems shut the monitor off to save energy and improve screen life, and use other techniques to prevent "burn in" on CRT systems. But screen savers are loads of fun, and if one pops up on your screen in an idle moment, or when the phone rings and you take your hands off the keyboard, they can be a pleasant distraction.
It includes original screen savers and the developers version of some classic savers, and even a couple that are down right "retro". Each screen saver has some sort of tunable options, because they are fun. iX Screen Savers are written in Objective C, using Cocoa and Quartz. A few saver, including Xirtam and BabelBloX, use OpenGL.

GL Screensavers - Collection of 5 OpenGL screensavers more>>
The following is a brief description of each screensaver module:
Impossible Cage: Displays a rotating cube whose edges cross each other in a physically impossible manner.
Circuit: Displays moving and rotating electrical components such as resistors, chips, and LEDs. You can configure the number of pieces and whether they spin as they move.
Infinite Stairs: Displays and rotates a staircase whose stairs appear to be constantly ascending.
Moebius Ants: Displays a Moebius strip with ants marching on it. Configuration options allow you to display a solid or wireframe strip and to hide the ants.
Rubik: Displays a rotating Rubiks Cube which repeatedly shuffles and solves itself. You can configure the number of random moves made when shuffling, and change the size of the cube up to 8x8x8.
By default, on multiple monitor systems only the main monitor will run the screensaver; others will be blank. If you check the "Use All Screens" checkbox which appears in each of the configuration sheets, the screensavers will run on all screens. Generally you should not run on all monitors unless all of them support OpenGL acceleration.

iTunes and Screensavers 1.2
iTunes and Screensavers - Pause iTunes when screensaver activates more>>
So this application will run silently in the background and watch for the screensaver. If the screensaver starts and iTunes is playing the playback is paused. As soon as the screensaver stops the music plays again.
This application was made in Realbasic in only 10 minutes. Some classes from the MBS Realbasic Plugin helped:
First we have a subclass of the CarbonApplicationEventsMBS class which receives an event from the system whenever an application is launched.
Using the ProcessMBS class we check whether the launched application is the screen saver and whether iTunes is running. In case iTunes runs we stop the music using an AppleScript which is compiled and executed using the AppleScriptMBS class.
In the event handler for terminating applications we check if this is the screen saver. In case the screen saver quits we tell iTunes to play again.
This application has no interface and it will quit if you log out but if you want to quit this app without logging out you can use the Process Viewer to quit the process.
Enhancements:
- Moved project to Realbasic 5.5 and newer plugins.
- Fixed problem with users of Script Debugger from latenightsw.com.
