Transmission 1.71

Transmission 1.71

Easy-to-use, highly tweakable BitTorrent client. more>>

Transmission 1.71 is a really superior tool which has been built from the ground up to be a lightweight, yet powerful BitTorrent client.

Its simple, intuitive interface is designed to integrate tightly with whatever computing environment you choose to use. Transmission strikes a balance between providing useful functionality without feature bloat.

Major Features:

  1. Easy: Transmission is designed from the ground up to balance power with simplicity. We've set initial preferences so things "Just Work", while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks. When Ubuntu chose Transmission as its default BitTorrent client, one of the most-cited reasons was its easy learning curve.
  2. Lean: With few dependencies and written in C, Transmission has the lowest memory footprint of any BitTorrent client we've seen. It's also the client of choice on low-memory hardware. Imageshack chose Transmission for its BitTorrent farms because the competition "requires amounts of memory several times greater than Transmission".
  3. Native:
    • Unlike some cross-platform programs, Transmission seamlessly integrates with your operating system. The Mac OS X interface is written in Objective-C and uses Growl notifications and dock badging to keep you informed.
    • The GTK+ interface has been carefully written with the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines in mind. It uses libnotify for torrent notification, DBUS for hibernation management, and GIO for watch directories.
  4. Powerful: Transmission has the features you expect in a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web-based interface, peer exchange, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, web seed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more.
  5. Free: Transmission is free software. All its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.

Enhancements:

  • All Platforms
    • Fix 1.70 bug that caused high CPU use in high-peer swarms
    • Fix 1.70 build problems with DHT and libevent
  • Daemon: Fix watchdir issue on OSes that don't have inotify
  • GTK+
    • Fix 1.70 intltool build problem
    • Fix crash when the OS's stock mime-type icons are misconfigured
    • Handle very long torrent file lists faster

Create, alter and inspect Matroska files. more>> Create, alter and inspect Matroska files.

MKVtoolnix is a set of tools to create, alter, and inspect Matroska files under Mac OS X, Linux and other Unices, and Windows.
MKVtoolnix does for Matroska what the OGMtools is able to do for the OGM format and then some.

Enhancements
- mkvmerge: bug fix - If subtitle files are appended to separate video files (e.g. two AVI and two SRT files) then the subtitle timecodes of the second and all following subtitle files were based on the last timecode in the first subtitle file instead of the last timecode in the first video file. Fix for bug 325.
- mkvmerge: bug fix - Due to uninitialized variables mkvmerge would report OGM files as having arbitrary display dimensions. Fix for bug 326.
- mkvmerge, mmg: enhancement - Implemented MIME type detection for attachments with libmagic on Windows.
- mkvmerge: bug fix - If a Matroska file containing attachments was used as an input file and splitting was enabled then the attachments were only written to the first output file. Now theyre written to each output file. Partial fix for bug 324.
- mkvmerge: enhancement - Decreased the time mkvmerge needs for parsing Quicktime/MP4 header fields.
- mkvmerge: bug fix - The parser for the simple chapter format (CHAPTERxx=...) can now handle more than 100 chapters. Fix for bug 320.
- mmg: bug fix: The commands "Save command line" and "Create option file" did not save mmgs current state but the state it was in when the command "Show command line" was last used or when mmg was started.
- mkvmerge: bug fix - Fixed a crash (segfault) with MPEG-4 part 2 video if "--engage native_mpeg4" is used. Fix for bug 318.
- mmg: bug fix - Fixed a compilation problem with non-Unicode enabled wxWidgets. Fix for bug 313.
- mkvmerge: new feature - Added support for reading the pixel aspect ratio from Theora video tracks.

Joomla 1.5.11

Joomla 1.5.11

Build a professional Web site. more>>

Joomla 1.5.11 is the most comprehensive, user friendly and fast solution for building professional Web sites.

A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.
Joomla is used all over the world to power Web sites of all shapes and sizes. For example:

  • Corporate Web sites or portals
  • Corporate intranets and extranets
  • Online magazines, newspapers, and publications
  • E-commerce and online reservations
  • Government applications
  • Small business Web sites
  • Non-profit and organizational Web sites
  • Community-based portals
  • School and church Web sites
  • Personal or family homepages

Major Features:

  1. User Management
    • Joomla has a registration system that allows users to configure personal options. There are nine user groups with various types of permissions on what users are allowed to access, edit, publish and administrate.
    • Authentication is an important part of user management and Joomla support multiple protocols, including LDAP, OpenID, and even Gmail. This allows users to use their existing account information to streamline the registration process.
  2. Media Manager: The Media Manager is the tool for easily managing media files or folders and you can configure the MIME type settings to handle any type of file. The Media Manager is integrated into the Article Editor tool so you can grab images and other files at any time.
  3. Language Manager: There is international support for many world languages and UTF-8 encoding. If you need your Web site in one language and the administrator panel in another, multiple languages are possible.
  4. Banner Management: It's easy to set up banners on your Web site using the Banner Manager, starting with creating a client profile. Once you add campaigns and as many banners as you need, you can set impression numbers, special URLs, and more.
  5. Contact Management: The Contact Manager helps your users to find the right person and their contact information. It also supports multiple contact forms going to specific individuals as well as groups.
  6. Polls: If you want to find out more about your users, it's easy to create polls with multiple options.
  7. Search: Help navigate users to most popular search items and provide the admin with search statistics.
  8. Web Link Management: Providing link resources for site users is simple and you can sort them into categories, even count every click.
  9. Content Management
    • Joomla's simplified three-tiered system of articles makes organizing your content a snap. You can organize your content any way you want and not necessarily how it will be on your Web site. Your users can rate articles, e-mail them to a friend, or automatically save a PDF (with UTF-8 support for all languages). Administrators can archive content for safekeeping, hiding it from site visitors.
    • On public Web sites, built-in e-mail cloaking protects email addresses from spambots.
    • Creating content is simple with the WYSIWYG editor, giving even novice users the ability to combine text, images in an attractive way. Once you've created your articles, there are a number of pre-installed modules to show the most popular articles, latest new items, newsflashes, related articles, and more.
  10. Syndication and Newsfeed Management: With Joomla, it's easy to syndicate your site content, allowing your users to subscribe to new content in their favorite RSS reader. It's equally easy to integrate RSS feeds from other sources and aggregate them all on your site.
  11. Menu Manager: The Menu Manager allows you to create as many menus and menu items as you need. You can structure your menu hierarchy (and nested menu items) completely independent of your content structure. Put one menu in multiple places and in any style you want; use rollovers, dropdown, flyouts and just about any other navigation system you can think of. Also automatic breadcrumbs are generated to help navigate your site users.
  12. Template Management: Templates in Joomla are a powerful way to make your site look exactly the way you want and either use a single template for the entire site or a separate template for each site section. The level of visual control goes a step further with powerful template overrides, allowing you to customize each part of your pages.
  13. Integrated Help System: Joomla has a built-in help section to assist users with finding what they need. A glossary explains the terms in plain English, a version checker makes sure you're using the latest version, a system information tool helps you troubleshoot, and, if all else fails, links to a wealth of online resources for additional help and support.
  14. System Features
    • Speedy page loads are possible with page caching, granular-level module caching, and GZIP page compression.
    • If your system administrator needs to troubleshoot an issue, debugging mode and error reporting are invaluable.
    • The FTP Layer allows file operations (like installing Extensions) without having to make all the folders and files writable, making your site administrator's life easier and increasing the security of your site.
    • Administators quickly and efficiently communicate with users one-on-one through private messaging or all site users via the mass mailing system.
  15. Web Services: With Web services, you can use Remote Procedure Calls (via HTTP and XML). You can also integrate XML-RPC services with the Blogger and Joomla APIs.
  16. Powerful Extensibility: These are just some of the basic Joomla features and the real power is in the way you customize Joomla. Visit the Joomla Extensions Directory to see thousands of ways to enhance Joomla to suit your needs.

MIME Inspector 1.0

MIME Inspector 1.0

MIME Inspector - Helps validate MIME types returned by your web server more>>
MIME Inspector is a tool used to help ensure that your Web site is returning the correct MIME types for files being served. Incorrect MIME types can cause various problems with downloadable files: Windows Internet Explorer is known to reassign the file extensions to ones matching the false MIME types, Macintosh computers may assign invalid file types to the files (again according to the false MIME type), and there is always the dreaded issue of binary files being spewed out as "text" into the window.

MIME Inspector works on the basis that you have a complete copy of your site offline (on your hard drive) in a structure that mirrors that of your site, otherwise the process will be tedious or impossible. If you wish to check a live site will need a radically different tool!

Open source Java-based implementation of the EDIINT AS2 standard more>> Open source Java-based implementation of the EDIINT AS2 standard

The OpenAS2 project is a collaborative effort to develop an open source application that implements the EDIINT AS2 proposed standard.
The EDIINT specifications take full advantage of existing standards, including MIME, S/MIME and PGP. There are two varieties of the specifications, esoterically called applicability statements.
The first, Applicability Statement 1 (AS1), utilizes SMTP as the transport protocol, and is an IETF standard (RFC3335). The second, AS2, utilizes HTTP and is a proposed IETF standard.
The essential difference is that AS2 requires a dedicated Internet connection with a static IP address, whereas AS1 will only provide store-and-forward capabilities. An increasing number of companies are choosing the AS2 variation, hence, our development

Open source high-level crypto API for encryption, decryption, signing, signature verification and key management more>> Open source high-level crypto API for encryption, decryption, signing, signature verification and key management

GnuPG Made Easy (GPGME) is a library designed to make access to GnuPG easier for applications. It provides a High-Level Crypto API for encryption, decryption, signing, signature verification and key management.

Currently GPGME uses GnuPG as its backend but the API isnt restricted to this engine; in fact we have already developed a backend for CMS (S/MIME).

Because the direct use of GnuPG from an application can prove to be a complicated programming task, it is suggested that all software should try to use GPGME instead. This way improvements and bug fixes can be done at a central place and every application
