Periodic table of the elements software. In addition to the usual information found in such programs, it also contains a wealth of nuclear information on each isotope, including half life, decay mode, and daughter products. X-ray data (fluorescence and binding energies) is included, as well as photon interaction values. Electron shell and particle energies are also listed, along with visible spectra, and a table of wavelengths and amplitudes. Theres a handy chart of the nuclides, showing all of the isotopes included in the Atomic Mac periodic table, about 1600 of them! Clicking on one takes you to detailed data for that isotope, such as half life, decay mode, alpha/beta/gamma energies, and daughter products. A molecular weight calculator makes it easy to find the molecular weight of compounds. A shaded diagram showing the ranges of physical properties makes it easy to visualize relationships across the periodic table.

ASCII Table 1.0.1

ASCII Table 1.0.1

ASCII Table - Programmers tool to find ASCII codes for characters more>>
ASCII Table is a utility for programmers, it is carbonised and runs under MacOS 8.6/9 and Mac OS X. I decided to write it because the System 6 style Desk Accessory, that I have been using for years, started crashing under Mac OS 9 and I couldnt find anything that ran natively under Mac OS X.
You can type characters on the keyboard and it will highlight that character on the table and display its ASCII code in decimal, hexadecimal and octal. You can also click on characters on the table which will exactly the same thing only you dont have to know the keyboard combination to type it.
Characters clicked and typed are also inserted into an editable field at the bottom. This can then be copied and pasted into other Applications. You may select a different font to be displayed from the font menu in the menu bar and all the characters in that font will be displayed in the table. The table is also re-sizable so that you can view the characters at larger sizes.
Enhancements:
- Bug fix for selected character being lost when redrawn.

XMLSpear 2.3.0

XMLSpear 2.3.0

XMLSpear - Java XML Editor more>>
XMLSpear a powerful graphical tree editor, targeted to check, and correct XML files in a simple way.
You can assign a schema or DTD to validate the xml. For correcting not-wellformed xml a simple source editor is available.
Main features:
- Full schema validation using DOM3 in Xerces 2.8.0
- Tree editor for inserting and deleting nodes
- real-time validation while editing table and element view
- GUI components reflecting the xml schema
- Visual and textual feedback for errors
- Support for multi-document view
- Generation of complete xml documents from schema
- Opening and correction of not-well formed XML
- Plug-In interface for extending functionality
- Flexible encoding (character set) support
- Project viewer
- Integrated text and HTML plugin.
Enhancements:
Solved bugs:
- Incorrect display and behavior of default button in dialogs
- Double-clicking folders in the file tree to expand the tree, incidentally triggered an action to open a file.
- After deleting all file trees, a newly add tree only showed up after opening a source or restarting XMLSpear
- The filetree tab, which displays the top directory name, was not updated after a folder was selected as the new root.
- Small problems with the item names in the filetree popup menu in java 1.6
- Incorrect positions in the find-replace (especially concerning Windows users after a saving a document.
- Redundant extra line number in text editor
- Several XML formatting issues in the source view.
- Loss of linefeeds after editing text in tree tabel
- Incorrect behavior regarding to mixed elements with multiple text nodes
- Prefix initially not filled in dialog for inserting elements or attributes
New functionality:
- Move up possibility in file tree
- If you select a .xsd file in the tree, there will be a new option in the popupmenu to generate a XML instance from the selected schema
- A totally new find-replace dialog with the possibility to mark text.
- A find function for the tree table
- Improved support for mixed elements. You can switch to an advanced mode, where the textnodes will displayed in the tree.
- If a text has linefeeds or tabs you are not allowed editing the text in the table cell. This will be indicated by a special button which brings up a text editor.
- In edit mode, you will have a button in each cell to switch to a full functional tekst editor.
- If a value is part of an enumeration, it will be showed in the table. In previous versions the combobox was only showed in editMode.
- Xpath display of each selected element in the tree table view
- Insert and editing of CDATA and text nodes in the tree table view
- Improved schema support for enumerations and fixed values
- Unformat option in the XML source view
Updates:
- Alphabetical listing of elements in dialogs
- Collapse and Expand actions are now local to the selected node, instead of to the complete tree
- The warning message for large XML files is removed. If a XML file is displayed in the treetable, it will no longer be fully expanded. This will save a lot of load time. It is not a good idea to fully expand such a tree from the rootlevel. This will be slow or may cause an out-of-memory exception.

TablePod 1.3

TablePod is a simple to use, yet sophisticated utility for the chemistry student or maybe the professional chemist. more>>

TablePod 1.3 is a simple to use, yet sophisticated utility for the chemistry student or maybe the professional chemist.

It gives you a periodic table of the elements on your iPod. TablePod, is different from the other (one, maybe two?) as it gives you a visual table. Each elements has its own image. The elements backgrounds have a color that corresponds to the type of elements (Alkali Metal, Noble Gas, so forth). For now TablePod is for quick reference, it has name, number, symbol, weight, and type.

Requirements: A color screen iPod.

RefEls 1.0

RefEls 1.0

RefEls - Increase your knowledge of the periodic table of elements more>>
RefEls is a Perl script that lets you look up and increase knowledge of the periodic table of elements. For all of the elements on the table the name, symbol, atomic number, and atomic weight have been referenced (the atomic weights for some elements are only those of the most common or well known types of the element, and may not be the only possible atomic weight).

There are two functions in the program. One is used to look up information about elements, and the other is a function like flash cards that allows you to test and improve your knowledge of the elements.

The reference section is used by typing in an attribute of an element, and then getting all of the information referenced about that element. You can type in the name, symbol, atomic number, or atomic weight to get the information about an element.

The flash card section works like normal cardboard flash cards: you are given one quality of an element and you have to give another quality of the same element back. One example would be the computer giving you the name of element and you having to give the atomic number for that element.

ChemBuddy 1.1a7

ChemBuddy 1.1a7

ChemBuddy is a chemical analysis program for students, chemists, and hobbyists alike more>>
ChemBuddy is a chemical analysis program for students, chemists, and hobbyists alike. It was created to perform many functions from various aspects of chemistry.
Cocoa/Objective-C chemical analysis and computation program; includes gas laws, solutions/solubility, stoichiometry, periodic tables, etc
Enhancements:
- I created a new, native project file for ChemBuddy, under the Xcode developer tools on Mac OS 10.3 (Panther). This, ironically enough, seems to have allowed me to make it compatible with Jaguar, as I am now easily able to manipulate the target OS version.
- The programme should function under Jaguar now.
- The main interface has been cleaned up quite a bit, and now takes the form of an outline view, rather than tab views with buttons. Its behaviour could still use some further refinement. This has, however, required me to change the Controllers.plist file from earlier versions: it is now somewhat more complicated, and has been renamed ControllerHierarchy.plist; and I have added yet another file, Controllers.plist, which is simply a list of the controllers. This, needless to say, is quite redundant, but Im still trying to work out the best solution (perhaps someone else may examine the source and shout, Why Reka! I have found it!).
- The version issue has been fixed. Several individuals noted that the previous distribution was supposed to be 1.1a2, rather than 1.1a1, but (due, again, to compiling in an older project format) this version-change appeared only on 10.3, rather than 10.2, which still showed my earlier, private alpha version. Future versions should hopefully experience no such inconsistencies.
- The periodic tables have been implemented more fully. Atomic numbers, smaller than the symbols and dark grey in colour, now appear atop the symbols.
- The nib files from the previous alpha maintained atomic symbol and number in the nib file itself as title and alternate title, respectively, for purposes of consulting PTCells.plist, a property list dictionary, for data. I migrated the property list to an array, accessed via the tags of cells (transparent ones all have a tag of -1 now).
- I also use attributed strings for the numbers and symbols on the periodic table buttons at this point. Older methods called from drawInteriorWithFrame: have been removed, as have several commented-out ones.
- The legends, as a final note, still leave something to be desired, as they are clunky and somewhat difficult to maintain at this point.
- I removed the outdated online help from the project, thus trimming four-fifths of a megabyte from the programme size.
- I deleted an extraneous nib backup from the English.lproj folder.
- The Italian.lproj folder is not included with this release, as it contained only a localised credits file; it and other localisations will be reimplemented at some point, hopefully by user and developer contributions.
