Don't Feed 1.0 is such a simple yet convenient program which is just a news reader. Free, but no support available.

Requirements: Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher

Portable Feed is the Feed RSS, Atom newsreader packaged as portable application so you can carry around with you on any portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive,memory card, other portable device (also on your internal hard disk) as long as it has 10 MB of free space and use on any Mac OS X computer, taking all your favorite newsfeeds with you.
How to install
1. Drag "Portable Feed" folder to your portable device, USB thumb drive, iPod, portable hard drive, memory card, other portable device (also to your internal hard disk) as long as it has 10 MB of free space.
2. Clicking "Portable Feed" will open Feed from your portable device, wait a while before Feed start.
3. If a local copy of Feed is running an alert window allow you to quit it.
Using your data- You can copy your user preferences to Portable Feed when "Copy preferences" window asks you. So, if you wish to use your favorite newsfeeds youalready have on your system, just click "Copy" when prompted.
Feed application and preference file are inside the bundle: Portable Feed.app/Contents/Resources/app/
Feed is packaged using the Platypus script wrapper.

The BBC maintain 68 RSS feeds: copies of their news web pages which are designed to be machine-readable instead of human-readable.
This application allows you to select any number of those feeds, downloads them, and presents their contents in an easy-to-read form.
Every 60 seconds, one of the categories you have selected for viewing is updated. The categories are updated in turn so if having frequent updates of one category is important to you, make sure almost all other categories are hidden.
