Statistics are very important to baseball, probably more so than any other sport. Since the early days of baseball people have been keeping all kinds of statistics on all aspects of the game. We then take those stats and use them to predict how a player will do, compare a player to another player and they are even used by professional teams to decide which free agents to sign and for how much.

The Statistics are also the backbone for fantasy baseball leagues and any fantasy baseball expert will tell you that knowing a players past statistics is the only way too predict their future performance. The baseball stats widget is designed to give you access to a wide range of baseball statistics with links to sites that have even more statistics on the players you are searching for.

The baseball stats widget is designed to search on partial names. The names must be the beginning of the name, for example if you type da into the first name field it will match david and davy but not adam because the name does not start with da. The widget will also only return up to ten names that match, if there is over ten matches it will ask you to narrow the search.

Once you have the search results, you can click on the players name that you wish to see and the widget will display the personal information for that player. You can then click on the players stats link to see the statistics for that player. From the players statistics page you can click on links to the statistics of that player on other sites.
