What if the band you are working with know absolutely nothing about musical theory or chord composition?

As the engineer do you sometimes need reminding which notes belong to a certain musical scale? Maybe you just want to prove to a certain smug musician that they are not the only one who knows the composition of a "A# minor major 7th add 13" chord...

Choose a root note, then a chord type or scale, and the notes that belong to the selected item will be represented on the keyboard below in a clean and clear manner.

The chord compositions are shown in a way that allows them to be easily read and understood. As a result the voicing of some chords will not be the most logical or pleasant sounding.

Metal History is a must have widget for any heavy metal fan.
The Metal History Dashboard Widget is a massive widget that does many things quite nicely.
It displays the year by year history of 7 big heavy metal bands. It also has many different options for skins of the widget (6 in total).
Extras include images for (almost) every year and a discography of each band.

Resistulator is...a resistor calculator. It calculates the value of a resistor from the sequence of colored bands painted on the resistor. It also displays the corresponding color sequence when a resistor value is entered.

Instructions:
To enter a color sequence, click each colored band to cycle through the possible colors. You can look up a color sequence by entering the numeric resistor value from the dropdown menus when the widget is in expanded form. The widget is resized by clicking anywhere on the green background.

audiospectrum is a very simple quartz screensaver that reacts to ambient audio. Its simple as possible to keep processor load and heat minimal. This is the good one, in my opinion, the screenshot really doesnt do it justice.
Click the More Information link on this page for all the other audio-based quartz screensavers Ive made. I may try to combine some of these, but keeping CPU use low is the priority.
To use these create (if it doesnt already exist) a folder called "Screen Savers" in your ~/Library folder and place the file there. It will then be available in ScreenSavers preference pane.
Note: If you are using a PowerMac or other computer without a built in microphone, you need to either adjust your default input in Sound Preference Pane so the screensaver can "hear" it, or email me or leave a comment if that doesnt work, so I can provide a version that monitors the line in. (I dont have a computer like this to test it on.)

- I figured out how to separate the audio spectrum, so there is a low, mid, and high band! The color of each band depends on the relative strengths of each band so its kinda interesting actually, and its quite responsive.
