Free backlit software for mac

BackLight provides a menu extra (really an NSStatusItem, which are fully supported in Jaguar) that allows you to turn your screensaver on and off as your desktop background.
Backlight can also change your screensaver and open the preferences.
Having your screensaver on your desktop is quite a cool effect, but you should probably have a Quartz Extreme-capable machine if you want to handle the load.

Lab Tick 0.9.4 is an effective yet easy-to-use tool which gives you total control over the backlit keyboard. Have you ever been annoyed by the fact that you could not turn on your PowerBook's or MacBook Pro's keyboard illumination in daylight? If so, here's your solution.The idea of a backlit keyboard is awesome, but the implementation in Mac OS X has its flaws. Lab Tick aims to fix them.

Requirements:

• PowerBook or MacBook (regular/Pro/Air) with backlit keyboard
• Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
  

PowerBlinken is a small and incredibly useless Mac OS X application that allows you to use your PowerBook or MacBook Pro as some sort of lightshow. It allows you to set transition, fading and blinking intervals on your PowerBooks backlit keyboard and LCD display. It requires a PowerBook or MacBook Pro to function correctly.

The backlit keyboard is controlled with the controls within the "BlinkenKey" box, while the LCD is controlled via the controls in the "BlinkenScreen". The "Synchronize" button can be checked to have both the backlit keyboard and screen blink in sync. The gray bars on each side of the window measure the light levels detected by the left and right light sensors on PowerBooks.

The source code to the program is made available under a public domain license -- you are free to do with it whatever you may please.

Oh, one more thing: Please dont contact me about bugs or errors in the program -- I threw this together in the space of a couple of hours, and am not interesting in doing further work on it. That being said, I hope you derive some element of satisfaction from this little experiment.

Array is an easy-to-use animation program. If you know the childrens toy where you poke transparent colored pegs through a backlit screen (LiteBrite), Array uses the same idea, but with multiple screens, to create animation.

You color points on a sequence of frames. There are various functions to manipulate the points. You can play, save, and reload your animation. You can export your animation as a Flash movie.

PodTunesColor is a simple iTunes controller that looks like a little color iPod on your desktop.
Click play/pause, previous, next - just like you would on your real iPod. Album art and the name of the currently playing track and artist appears on the iPods display.
Enhancements:
- A color screen with album art,
- Switch Shuffle on and off directly from PodTunesColor
- Shuffle icon indicates if shuffle is on or off
- Icon in the top left of screen now indicates whether iTunes is playing or paused
- Track numbers (eg. 7 of 645) in upper left of screen
- Switch the backlight on and off (Menu button)
- Improved graphics.
