View Your Mind 1.9.0
VYM (View Your Mind) is a tool to generate and manipulate maps which show your thoughts more>>
Maps can be drawn by hand on paper or a flip chart and help to structure your thoughs. While a tree like structure like shown on this page can be drawn by hand or any drawing software vym offers much more features to work with such maps.
vym is not another drawing software, but a tool to store and modify information in an intuitive way. For example you can reorder parts of the map by pressing a key or add various information like a complete email by a simple mouse click.
A map can concentrate a very complex content on little space e.g. a piece of paper. It helps to use both sides of your brain: the logical side and also your creative side (e.g. by using pictures, colors and keywords in a map, so called anchors). It is a technique to organize the way you think: It can help you by developing, sorting and memorizing your thoughts.
Because you just use keywords and drawings, it is much faster than good old fashioned notes. Your brain memorizes things by associating them to other things -- a map makes use of those connections and stimulates new asccociations.
vym is designed to make changes in the map very easy: e.g. if you use it for time management, just move a task to another place or recolor it by a simple mouse click in order to assign it to another day in the week or to give it a new priority.
There are lots of webpages (see e.g. the Wikepedia links below) and also books out there, providing lots of information on working with maps.

MindNode 1.4.2
MindNode gives you a free yet elegant and simple-to-use mindmapping application for the Macintosh more>>
MindNode 1.4.2 gives you a free yet elegant and simple-to-use mindmapping application for the Macintosh which was created with the user in mind and features a very simple and intuitive user interface that lets the user focus on expressing and developing ideas. Nearly no time is required to learn the interface. MindNode is based on the same codebase as the commercial version. While it is still a very powerful application, it misses some of the features added to MindNode Pro that help improve your productivity.
Major Features:
- Node Well. New nodes are created by simply dragging them out of the node wells. There is no need to access the toolbar or the application menu.
- Multiple Mind Maps. The ability to create multiple mind maps on one canvas makes MindNode Pro an ideal tool for brainstorming sessions.
- No file format lock-in. MindNode and MindNode Pro support a variety of file formats. You can import and export FreeMind and OPML files (a file format used by many outlining applications) or export the mind map as PNG image, TIFF image, PDF, RTF or HTML document.
- Visually Appealing Mind Maps. There is no need to spend hours playing with the visual attributes to create an appealing mind map. The default values are suitable for most uses.
- Full Keyboard Support. Although MindNode really shows its strength when used with a mouse, nearly all interactions can be performed very easily with the keyboard.
- Built for Leopard. MindNode makes use of Quicklook, Spotlight and iChat Theater.
- Expanding Canvas. The mind map is not restricted to the size of a page. The canvas resizes automatically in the background to fit the mind map.
Enhancements:
- New "string outline" export format.
- Full support for copying outlines into plain text documents.
- Improvements to RTF export.
- MindNode now supports connections during printing and image export. This also influences QuickLook preview.
- Correctly imports MindNode (touch) 1.1 documents.
- Consistent format descriptions in the export dialog.
Requirements:
- Mac OS X v. 10.5 or later.
