eliminate borders 3.0 is designed to be a smart plug-in with the ability to slightly enlarge the clip, push out the edges. It's use is primarily for people who are converting analog video footage to digital. Sometimes, the edges contain artifacts or bad pixels. This plug-in enables you to eliminate those pixels by simply shoving them off-screen.

Use this plug-in whenever your source material has borders that exhibit bad pixels that you would rather not see.

QuickNES 1.1b3

QuickNES 1.1b3

QuickNES is a Nintendo emulator more>>
QuickNES is a Nintendo emulator, very promising !
The emulation is fluid. However, display problems can appear on some nintendo games and you actually cant choose the type of video display.
It runs decently in thousands of colors under Mac OS X on a 700 MHz G4 flat-panel iMac when graphics are set to thousands of colors, and under Mac OS 9 on a 400 MHz PowerMac. Once I learn CoreGraphics or OpenGL, I should be able to double performance on Mac OS X, so for now the requirements are a bit higher than Im intending in the future.
The main highlight is its flexible movie handling, which Ive spent a lot of time developing. I intend on extending this further, particularly for tool-assisted speedrun type uses. Other notable features are numerous adjustments for image and sound parameters with live feedback, mild CPU usage, and the ability to let a movie play in the background while you do other things.
The main limitations are keyboard-only control and no full-screen mode. Both of these are beyond my abilities at the moment, and arent really critical features. I dont even have any USB gamepads nor know what all is required to support them (and remember reading that they arent straight-forward to support, either).
QuickNES lacks some polish and refinement, and Im still working on the emulator core, so dont expect industrial-strength support like Nestopia or similar. Experimentation and research are my main goals, not perfect emulation accuracy or maximum compatibility, though it does pass almost all the rigorous test ROMs Ive released so far. Once I clean the source up a bit more Ill be releasing it under the LGPL, and will happily assist others in adding similar features to their emulators.
Main features:
- Supports games and demos in the iNES (.nes) file format, including those compressed with zip or GNU zip (.gz).
- Game play is always recorded into a movie which can be freely played and re-recorded from any point.
- Named time markers can be added to allow easy return to specific points of interest.
- Instant rewind is always available, allowing you to literally run things backwards to undo a mistake.
- Emulation speed can be reduced for slow-motion playback and recording.
- Television video artifacts are emulated, with several adjustments.
- Sound emulation is crystal-clear and includes adjustable stereo enhancement for headphone listening.
- Per-game customizations like adjustable turbo and screen options are remembered.
Enhancements:
- I found another embarrassing bug: if you have "Keep backup when saving movie" turned off in the preferences, when you save itll delete the movie file from disk, and additionally not even allow you to Save As... elsewhere. Argh! Yet another fix.

Ogg Vorbis r45

Ogg Vorbis r45

Ogg Vorbis - Allows you to play Ogg Vorbis music with iTunes more>>
Ogg Vorbis is a iTunes 4 compatable Ogg Vorbis decoder plugin for Quicktime 6.2 or later under Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
This will allow you to play Ogg Vorbis music with iTunes.
Enhancements:
- Metadata. Now uses a (potentially) user-configurable property-list file (MetaDataConfig.plist). Seems to work in QT Player. iTunes ignores some of the tags, such as track number, or the title (!!), but at least it uses album and artist names. (Whats interesting, iTunes doesnt seem to use title metadata at all for more QT imported file formats than just Ogg/Vorbis! Try adding some trailer from official Apple trailers page to your iTunes library. So, It does appear to be iTunes problem/feature.)
- Seeking, pausing, skipping. Some fixes regarding interruptions, dropped pages and seeking in general. There are, sometimes, audible artifacts on the boundaries of the non-consecutive packets, which is to be expected. However, it doesnt happen with the mp3 files... Or does it? Well, at least seeking now doesnt stop playback, as could happen with the previous version.
- Fixed some small bugs and memory leaks.
- Streaming. I did try. ;) In QuickTime Player, the component will usually download ogg pages, and put them into QT tracks, but if the file size is unspecified (as is the case with streaming) it will not play anyway. Importer works properly, and decoder is being set-up, but then QT Player just doesnt ask for decoded samples. And you usually cant even save the stream. If you manage to save, though, you can play the file. If the file contains multiple (chained) logical ogg/vorbis streams - the component, at the moment, inserts them all at time 0. So you can save time listening to all the tracks at once. :D Well, this is one of the many things to work on...
- Streaming in iTunes. Still doesnt work. It doesnt try to use the codec, at all. Just displays the stream as mpeg audio and apparently fails do decode it as such.
- In my experience, iTunes always imports ogg files synchronously, and sometimes does it multiple times per one file (!?). This means there will be slight delay before playback of each file, while iTunes imports the file. I suppose it may mean an even less slight delay on a non-local storage media. Well...
- Equaliser and visualisation in iTunes. Im not sure its not only me, but none of the non-iTunes formats (so, all the external QT-imported file formats) seems to work with equaliser nor visualisation in iTunes on my machine. On the other hand, QT Player has no problems with displaying real-time (well, slightly less real while importing) frequency levels during playback...

Heretic for the PowerPC 0.9.2

Heretic for the PowerPC 0.9.2

Heretic for the PowerPC - A Heretic port for the Mac PowerPC more>>
Heretic for the PowerPC is a Heretic port for the Mac PowerPC.
Has added high-detail, extra memory allocation and support add-ons but no net play.
Heretic is a 3D first-person shooter in the same style as Doom and Hexen. It uses the same core engine as Doom, with a few modifications. It is the prequel to Hexen: Beyond Heretic, which was made available as a commercial release for the Macintosh back in 1995. Unfortunately, the original Heretic was never made for the Mac. I decided to port Heretic to complete the sequence and give Mac users the missing piece. This program will run both the shareware WAD file for Heretic (heretic1.wad) or the full commercial WAD file (heretic.wad).
Enhancements:
- Although no one reported this, it was possible for Heretic to crash on startup if you didnt have a Help menu of any kind, i.e. it was turned off by some third-party utility.
- Heretic now supports loading of add-on WAD files. To use them, simply drag the WAD files onto the Heretic application icon to launch it. Note that the WAD files cant be loaded once Heretic has been launched - they will only load if you drag them onto the application to start it up. It supports a total of 19 add-on files at once.
- If you held down the "run" key and pressed "use artifact", Heretic would instead try to skip to the next item in your inventory. If you didnt have any more items, nothing would happen. This feature is disabled now, which means that assigning caps lock to run will allow you to use items consistently.
- If you had assigned a joystick or mouse to use the "Direction Pad" in the InputSprocket setup, the controls became unplayable. This bug is fixed. However, I encourage you to only use the "Direction Pad" setup for non-analog joysticks like the Gravis GamePad. Youll have much better control with the mouse or an analog joystick if you use the "Forward/Backward" and "Left/Right" combinations.

Xiph QuickTime Components 0.1.9

Xiph QuickTime Components 0.1.9

Ogg Vorbis, Speex, FLAC, Theora plugins. more>>

Xiph QuickTime Components 0.1.9 is a perfect way for Mac users who want to use Xiph formats in any QuickTime-based application, e.g. playing Ogg Vorbis in iTunes or producing Ogg Theora with iMovie. Xiph QuickTime Components (XiphQT) is a set of QuickTime and Macintosh OS X plug-ins.

Major Features:

  1. Provides support for Xiph media compression and container formats.
  2. If you are an end user: installing XiphQT components is all you need to start using Xiph-formatted media files in a variety of applications - for example, listening to Ogg/Vorbis files in QuickTime Player or iTunes. The programming interfaces used in XiphQT allow the provided functionality to be available transparently to all media handling applications using QuickTime or OS X component mechanisms.
  3. If you are a programmer, you have built a Macintosh Core Audio or QuickTime-based application and would like to add Xiph formats support: most of the time there is hardly anything you will need to do to add support.

Enhancements:

  • Reduced memory usage
  • Fixed playback of HD content
  • Fixed leaking memory when handling files containing Theora streams (#1379)
  • Added code to make Ogg exporter work with iMovie '08
  • Added code to properly handle bigger packets in Theora decoder allowing XiphQT to handle HD content without visual artifacts.

Requirements:

  • Version 10.3.9 or 10.4 and later
  • QuickTime for Mac OS X - version 7 or later

movie canvas 1.4.1

movie canvas 1.4.1

movie canvas is launched to be a handy and effective utility which turns iMovie into a drawing application. more>>

movie canvas 1.4.1 is launched to be a handy and effective utility which turns iMovie into a drawing application. It allows you to paint your pictures on an ever-changing background.

The idea of this plug is that it allows you to place as many virtual transparent canvases over your clip as you have frames in your clip. You can paint on this canvas to your heart's content. Enhance, annotate, and edit your clip as you see fit.

Special controls allow you to use the same canvas with all frames, some frames, or one (delivering exact per-pixel control to those who want it). You can define as many canvases as you have frames in your clip - or use one for all.

Major Features:

  • Edit/fix blue-screen effects
  • Remove or add artifacts
  • Retouche parts of a clip
  • Add animations (e.g. laser shots) or effects (e.g. light sabre)
  • Annotate
  • Add some doodling
  • Create personal animated greeting cards

Too Much Too Soon Plugins 1.0

Too Much Too Soon Plugins 1.0

Too Much Too Soon Plugins is a professional and smart set of plugins for Apple FCP. more>>

Too Much Too Soon Plugins 1.0 is a professional and smart set of plugins for Apple FCP.

Major Features:
  1. Smart Anamorphic (New June 2005)
Stretches 4:3 footage to 16:9 without cropping. Make sure you remove any automatically added distortions in the motion tab before you apply this. Currently in beta so please send all the feedback you got. Features that are coming up include thew ability to add cropping as well for a less dramatic effect as well as definable "center of action" to avoid stretching areas with movement.
  2. Flashframe (Updated June 2005)
A flashframe transition. Now with optional gradual pre and (!) post blur and luma clamping for legal levels.
  3. Color Balance (New May 2005)
Adjusts color balance without changing the luminance. Works a little like the built in color balance filter as well as the Quicktime RGB filter, but much better and more intuitive than both.
  4. Color Balance 3-way (New May 2005)
As above but with separate controls for shadows, midtones and highlights. Similar to the color balance tool found in many image manipulation tools for stills.
  5. Clock (Updated May 2005)
Generates a digital clock, for countdowns or whatever. The update adds milliseconds to the display. I suggest you crop the frame to select the number of decimals you need. The clock doesn't animate on its own, so you have to keyframe the "seconds" slider. I thought that would be the most flexible way of handling this...
  6. Scratch Removal (New April 2005)
Removes vertical scratches from old and damaged film. Move the sliders (you can enter fractions by hand for fine tuning) until the guide covers the scratch and then uncheck the guide box. Scratches like these are often stationary but otherwise the filter is completely keyframeable.
  7. Anamorphic Squeeze (New September 2004)
The benefit of doing this using a filter is that the letterbox area becomes usable for other filters applied to the same clip, such as Timecode Reader. This is not the case when you use the anamorphic checkbox or the motion settings. Make sure you undo any other squeeze before applying this.
  8. Shadow/Highlight Gamma (New August 2004)
Applies gamma correction to the highlights and shadows independently. Originally designed to correct the excessive contrast often found in film material transfered on a film chain, but feel free to use it whichever way you want.
  9. Black & White
Offers more control over the conversion to black & white than simple desaturation. Use it to emulate different b&w filmstocks as well as camera filters. I like to use 50% red and 50% green and lose the blue altogether for that orange filter look.
  10. Chroma Resample
Resamples the chroma channel using FCP's bicubic interpolation instead of Quicktime's built in nearest neighbor algorithm. Makes keying a lot easier and generally improves the image, especially if used with the Black & White or Fast Deinterlace filters.
  11. Diffusion
Silk stocking, Soft Filter, ProMist, LoCon, Diffusion and so on -- this filter does it. Just experiment with the settings. Normal, Overlay and Screen seems to be the most useful transfer modes, but don't let that stop you.
  12. Speeder III
Speed ramping tool. Ramps by keyframing the frame number or progress percentage. Works on the clip it's applied to, but if you want to change the duration you can apply it to a scrap clip and drop the clip to ramp in the source clip box.
  13. Fast Deinterlace
Same as the built in, but it renders more than twice as fast. And now it shouldn't destroy the last line of video as it sometimes did before.
  14. Black Restore
If you've lost the blacks for some reason, like video noise, bad telecine or dirty VHS heads, or even because of some filter you applied, this one's for you. It gives the image its punch back, with deeper blacks and better saturation in dark colors, without changing the brightness of the rest of the image.
  15. Blend Fields
This does the exact same thing as the famous "double deinterlace filmlook method," but it renders *a lot* faster.
  16. Mosaic
  17. Noise Reduction
Removes video noise and grain by averaging pixels where there's no detail. Aside from giving you a cleaner image, this can really improve the results you'd get from most compression schemes, like Sorenson and MPEG.
  18. Reduce Flicker
Same as Blend Fields, but only blends where there's interlace artifacts. Useful for removing flicker in text and still images while preserving as much sharpness as possible.
  19. RGB Gamma
A simple but effective color corrector.
  20. Typewriter
Types the letters one at a time. Uses keyframes to control the speed, which allows for a more "real" and "natural" typing look. Try it with the Harting font.
  21. Wind Blur/Cross
This is a regular wind blur that is much, much faster than the built in one, due to the slight limitation that it only supports two directions, vertical and horizontal. It works both as a filter and as a transition.
