Steal a Sig is the ultimate signature utility. Creates sigs, imports them, exports them, does a whole lot more.

Steal a Sig is an AppleScript for Microsoft Entourage that will allow the quick and easy creation of signatures to be added to your Signatures file.

It will take text from various sources, and compile it into a form understood by Entourage and will insert it into the signatures file.
• If you select text from within a message, it will use that selection.
• If no text is selected, but there is text on the clipboard, it will use the clipboard text.
• If no text is selected and there is no text on the clipboard, it will present you with an empty dialog box so you can compose your own signature line.
In addition, various commands can be carried out by the script. All these commands are triggered by selecting a single word before running the script. type the command word in a new Entourage message window, select it and run the script. Commands available are:
• Separator - This will allow you to define the separator to use when creating all future signatures. The default is "-- " (dash, dash, space)
• Random - This defines whether all future sigs will be included in the Random sigs list. Options are yes, No, and Ask each time.
• Default - Allows you to define some default text that will be added to each created signature. You can declare whether you want this default text (your name, for instance) to appear above or below the signature.
• Export - Exports all your signatures to a text file.
• Import - Imports signatures from a text file in the format created by export.
• Clear - Will delete ALL your current signatures. Make sure youve exported them before running this command!
• Help - Displays a message window with a description of these commands in the body.

Whats it for?
As you begin to use your IMS computers you will probably want to transfer documents created on your Macintosh to your IMS network folder. If youre a true Macintosh user this will make you sad. And it probably means you have a whole bunch of documents you created in AppleWorks. Now you could spend about $40 and get AppleWorks for Windoze. Or you could open each of your AppleWorks documents and then Save As a Word or Excel document. Or you can use this application to convert all of your AppleWorks documents to Word and Excel for you. This only works with text documents, any graphics used in your AppleWorks documents may not convert properly.
How does it work?
Magic of course! Just double-click the cute icon and follow the instructions. It will ask you to select the folder that contains the AppleWorks files you want to convert. Once you make that selection, sit back and watch it work.

It auto-magically checks the file type and converts it to either Word or Excel. Because some operating systems cant handle file names longer than 31 characters, it will also truncate the file name to 27 characters and add the correct three-letter extension, the dot makes it 31.

If the new 31 character file name is already used a dialog box will appear asking you to use a different name. If the name you type in here is already in use then the operation will stop and you will have to check your files and try again with any files that were not already converted.

Is it Safe?
Sheesh! How can you ask such a thing! Of course it is! Its been tested rigorously, well okay so I started writing it yesterday and tested it today and made some changes and tested it again. It worked for me, so I think it is safe to share with you. It actually makes a copy of all of your files in new folders named "Converted Word Docs" and "Converted Spreadsheets" inside the folder you selected at the start. It then converts the copies. But if you want to be really safe, make a backup of your files before using this fun tool.
