Oligo 7.24 is a useful multi-functional program that allows you to search for and select oligonucleotides from a sequence file for polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA sequencing, site-directed mutagenesis, and various hybridization applications.
The OLIGO software has been broadly accepted as the industry software standard for selecting and analyzing oligonucleotides for various molecular biology applications. The first commercial version of the software has been introduced in 1989.
Major Features:
- Calculate hybridization temperature and secondary structure of oligonucleotides based on the nearest neighbor thermodynamic values.
- Is a good tool for construction of synthetic genes, finding an appropriate sequencing primer among those already synthesized, finding and multiplexing consensus prmers and probes, and even finding potential restriction sites in a protein.
- With Oligo you can analyze open reading frames down to predicted molecular weight and pKa of proteins, and search for restriction enzyme sites, not only in DNA but also in reverse-translated proteins.
- For each primer or primer pair, Oligo's various analysis windows show a multitude of useful data, such as DNA and RNA secondary structure, dimer formation, false priming and homology, internal stability, composition and physical properties.

VNCViewer 1.24 brings you a convenient viewer application for the VNC remote display system. A fine gentleman by the name of Helmut Maierhofer has graciously allowed me to compile his Openstep viewer.
It is now available as a MacOSX only cocoa app. source and binary are included in a stuffed tarred gzipped file (don't ask, just download it, unstuffit, gunzip it, and untar it) as a testament to how well openstep and cocoa are intertwined and how well Mr. Maierhofer codes, I was able to get a prelimenary version of the app running after changing only one line in the make file.
