iodine 0.5.2

iodine 0.5.2

Free IPv4 over DNS tunneling client more>> Free IPv4 over DNS tunneling client

This can be usable in different situations where internet access is firewalled, but DNS queries are allowed.
iodine runs on Mac OS X, Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD and needs a TUN/TAP device.
The bandwidth is assymetrical with limited upstream and up to 1 Mbit/s downstream.
The name iodine was chosen since it starts with IOD (IP Over DNS) and since
iodine has atomic number 53, which happens to be the DNS port number.
NOTE: iodine is licensed and distributed under the terms of the ISC license.

Main features:
- iodine uses the NULL type that allows the downstream data to be sent without encoding. Each DNS reply can contain nearly a kilobyte of payload data.
- iodine runs on many different UNIX-like systems. Tunnels can be set up between two hosts no matter their endianness or operating system.
- iodine uses challenge-response login secured by MD5 hash. It also filters out any packets not coming from the IP used when logging in.
- iodine handles setting IP number on interfaces automatically, and up to 8 users can share one server at the same time.

Enhancements
- Fixed client segfault on OS X
- Added check that nameserver lookup was successful
- Fixed ENOTSOCK error on OS X and FreeBSD

Quarry 0.5.2

Quarry 0.5.2

Experimental test/spec system exploring storyboards and AOP-based design contracts more>>

Quarry 0.5.2 is an extremely powerful utility for developers. It is actually a BDD/TDD framework that can frees you of strict nomenclatures, opening up vast reserves in test ore and behavior mining. Quarry uses a literate programming model that eliminates the barriers on how to describe your specifications and unit tests, leading to a proverbial gold mine in systems documentation.

Major Features:

Quarry's BDD/TDD system is unique in many ways.

  1. Firstly:
    • It does not enforce a BDD or TDD perspective, but leaves that choice up to the programmer and the case at hand, by supporting a diversified set of "this-is-so" methods.
    • Quarry's defacto terminology is expected because it is suitable to both testers and specifiers. And Quarry full supports assert and should nomenclatures as well for those atone to those particular perspectives.
  2. Secondly:
    • Quarry's specifications are an application of literate programming. As such, they are completely free-form. In other words, unlike other BDD/TDD systems, Quarry has no special organization domain language. Instead specifications are simply text/markup files (typically RDoc format).
    • Quarry also provides a flexible test-double facility consisting of stubs, light-weight mocks and spies. These are very flexible tools. For instance, a Quarry stub can act as a revaluble module or automatically via object's singleton class.
    • Quarry actually discourages the use of mocks as they are traditionally understood, because they create overly tight coupling between specification and implementation. But Quarry provides light-weight mocks that are in effect pre-asserted stubs.
  3. Lastly
    • A method-probe/test-spy is also under development, which can be used to dip-down into a method and provide a readout of the methods signatures.
    • Also in the works is an embedded test/spec extraction tool. This allows tests/specs to be embedded in block comments, which can be a very convenient means to provide unit test/specs.

Enhancements:

  • Markup tracks before and after macros.
  • Script output using --script option.

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X

Freenet 0.5.2

Freenet 0.5.2

Freenet is a large-scale peer-to-peer network which pools the power of member computers around the world to create a massive virtual information store open to anyone to freely publish or view more>>

Freenet 0.5.2 won't make you disappointed cause it pools the power of member computers around the world to create a massive virtual information store open to anyone to freely publish or view information of all kinds.

Major Features:

  1. Highly survivable: All internal processes are completely anonymized and decentralized across the global network, making it virtually impossible for an attacker to destroy information or take control of the system.
  2. Private: Freenet makes it extremely difficult for anyone to spy on the information that you are viewing, publishing, or storing.
  3. Secure: Information stored in Freenet is protected by strong cryptography against malicious tampering or counterfeiting.
  4. Efficient: Freenet dynamically replicates and relocates information in response to demand to provide efficient service and minimal bandwidth usage regardless of load. Significantly, Freenet generally requires log(n) time to retrieve a piece of information in a network of size
  5. Freenet is free software which lets you anonymously share files, browse and publish "freesites" (web sites accessible only through Freenet) and chat on forums, without fear of censorship.
  6. Freenet is decentralised to make it less vulnerable to attack, and if used in "darknet" mode, where users only connect to their friends, is very difficult to detect.
  7. Communications by Freenet nodes are encrypted and are routed through other nodes to make it extremely difficult to determine who is requesting the information and what its content is.
  8. Users contribute to the network by giving bandwidth and a portion of their hard drive (called the "data store") for storing files. Files are automatically kept or deleted depending on how popular they are, with the least popular being discarded to make way for newer or more popular content. Files are encrypted, so generally the user cannot easily discover what is in his datastore, and hopefully can't be held accountable for it. Chat forums, websites, and search functionality, are all built on top of this distributed data store.
  9. An important recent development, which very few other networks have, is the "darknet": By only connecting to people they trust, users can greatly reduce their vulnerability, and yet still connect to a global network through their friends' friends' friends and so on. This enables people to use Freenet even in places where Freenet may be illegal, makes it very difficult for governments to block it, and does not rely on tunneling to the "free world". .

Enhancements:

  • Unspecified improvements
  • Bug fixes.

Cutplace 0.5.2

Cutplace 0.5.2

A free tool to validate that data conform to an interface control document (ICD) more>>
Cutplace 0.5.2 offers you a versatile and powerful tool which can validate that data conform to an interface control document (ICD). Cutplace works with flat data formats using delimiters (such as CSV) or a fixed format. Such formats are commonly used to exchange data between different platforms or physically separated systems.

Examples are exchanging data between different partner companies, providing data for data warehousing or other data processing involving architecturally very different systems like mainframes.

Major Features:

  1. With Cutplace one will be able to easily describe these data in a simple and human readable spreadsheets using popular applications like Excel or Calc.
  2. Unlike a lot of documentation these days, this description does not only describe wishful thinking. It acts as "executable specification" that cutplace can use to validate that data actually conform to it.

Enhancements: Fixed missing setup script.

p990iCal 0.5.2

p990iCal 0.5.2

p990iCal - transfer events from your phone to iCal and vice versa more>> p990iCal - transfer events from your phone to iCal and vice versa

Unfortunalely Apples iSync does not (yet?) support Symbian v3 phones from SonyEricsson such as p990i,W950i and M600.
This application tries to fill this gap. By using p990iCal you can transfer events from your phone to iCal and vice versa.
Enhancements
- Fixed a couple of bugs, for instance the program would crash if you have a date before 1900 in your iCal. Then I realized that some of you have dates as early as 1430 (even with alarm....), I dont really understand why, but these are now correctly handled (i.e. omitted).
- ToDo items are also included into the calculation to determine the size of the output file (could have been a problem if you had many todo items). Then only ToDo items of the selected calendars (preferences) are now sent to the phone.
- Some other minor bug fixes.
- And: GERMAN Localisation! If anybody else wants to localize in his/her language you are very welcome (just send me an email and youll get the file, the big work is acutally the help menu).
- WARNING: could not extensively test this version, but as some had problems with the previous version and Ill be off for a week, thought it makes sense to post this release. (as soon as I know it works ok, Ill send out the newsletter to registered users). Please comment!
