These applications were TIFF/IT-P1 PreFlight, TIFF/IT-P1 TagScan and TIFF/IT-P1Rename. In 1999, the DDAP Association embarked on an initiative to revamp our verification software, bundling it into a single package with an updated user interface and functionality based on fives years of field experience provided to us by members and non-members alike.

METAmachine 1.6 is considered as a practical and reliable metadata browser that helps to streamline the important process of editing or adding keywords, licenses and other essential metadata to images either individually or in batches. METAmachine reads and writes XMP formatted metadata in TIFF, JPEG, PSD and DNG images.
METAmachine can be used to write a complete set of the IPTC standard metadata into images. It can also be used to add solely copyright and contact information or licensing terms, leaving all other metadata already in the images unaltered. METAmachine is compatible with all XMP compliant Digital Asset Management software and can become a simple step in the work flow for any combination of programs.
Writing metadata with this utility is as simple as dragging images from the Desktop or from a compatible program such as Adobe Bridge, either one at a time or in batches, onto a target area where the metadata is added. Images themselves are not moved or opened and re-saved, so there is no destructive re-compression involved. It amounts to a highly streamlined, efficient and accurate process that greatly simplifies the process of identifying and branding images in formats understood by all.
METAmachine has Copyright Protection options built in that prevent overwriting any existing copyright information in images, making it the only metadata writing software in full compliance with the Meta Manifesto of the Stock Artists Alliance. Built into the software is HindSight's highly praised, extremely fast, hierarchical keywording system and a license constructor. Both include usable sample data, but can be modified as necessary to fit the end-user's needs. The files are then sent to one or two target folders.
Combined with J2SProfiler, an IPTC profile editor, J2STask is also used to route documents according to the IPTC data they contain i.e. if the IPTC caption of a file does not comply with the defined IPTC profile, it will be moved to an "Error" folder instead of being forwarded to the target folder.
J2STask can accomplish the following operations:
- Rotate (all files or according to Exif data),
- Set file resolution,
