Data may then be extracted from anywhere within the selected email and may be further refined via the use of data filters and/or user-defined scripts. The resulting data may then be used to read or update a FileMaker or any ODBC compliant database. Finally, an optional 'notification' email may be constructed from a template message merged with data from the email and/or the associated database record and sent immediately or queued for later transmission.
email@Scanner is controlled by scanning definitions. A scanning definition consists of a series of settings that together describe how email messages are selected and how and from where the data is to be extracted. The definition also defines how the data is used to maintain a database and whether or not a notification email is to be sent, and if so how it is to be constructed. When one or more scanning definitions have been created and tested they may then be processed.
Processing a definition involves using the settings contained in the definition to direct the scanning of email messages, the extraction of data and the updating of the database and the possible transmission of notification email. A processing run may consist of the execution of one or more definitions, may be scheduled for immediate or future execution and may be run once or repeatedly at regular intervals.

Now when the scanner stops on a preprogrammed frequency I can tell at a glance who it is. The large alpha tag is easy to read along with the received signal strength. Plus I no longer have to try and punch in frequencies from the little keypad. My scanner is out of my reach from my desk and the remote control is great.

The pictures can be placed into albums, then organised by utilising the built in sort options or manually reordering. Key words or comments may be added to the album item to make it easier to find specific images or types of image, using PhotoXtra's powerful search capabilities. Once organised, you can display your images as a slide show, adding or recording sound files to the album to describe the images or to enhance the slide show presentation. Slideshows can be recorded as QuickTime Movies to send to others.
PhotoXtra is the next step up for iPhoto users as it has more sophisticated functionality and accepts sounds and movies and not just pictures. PhotoXtra also has more sort and search functions as well as drop boxes and the ability to store URLs attached to data.
