Bug Off 1.0.1

Bug Off 1.0.1

Bug Off is considered as a smart and useful debugger for PalmOS and MacOS applications, which runs on the Macintosh platform. more>>

Bug Off 1.0.1 is considered as a smart and useful debugger for PalmOS and MacOS applications, which runs on the Macintosh platform. In 2003, Palm developers that use the Macintosh platform lost the most popular integrated development environment available to them. This left many developers with a difficult decision, try to find a replacement IDE, switch from the Macintosh platform that they know and love to the Windows platform, or stop developing for the PalmOS.

Thankfully, a very powerful open source package of tools was available called PRC-Tools to take the place of the abandoned development environment. PRC-Tools allows Macintosh users to continue to develop for the PalmOS. Unfortunately, PRC-Tools brings with it all the complexity of the command line, which while powerful, is not what Macintosh users are accustomed to. The crafty developers devised a way to use Apple's free Xcode IDE to act as a graphical front end to the PRC-Tools package.

This solved almost all of their problems, except for the debugger problem. There was no graphical front end to the command line debugger. Trinfinity Software is attempting to fill this void with BugOff, which allows Palm developers on the Macintosh platform to control the PRC-Tools debugger from a graphical user interface.

For Macintosh debugging, BugOff utilizes the open source gdb debugger command line tool available on the MacOS X Developer Tools CD. For Palm debugging, BugOff relies on the open source PRC-Tools development package. In particular, BugOff utilizes the m68k-palmos-gdb version of the gdb command line tool. For users that do not wish to compile the PRC-Tools package themselves, a pre-built package is available from Zenonez. BugOff gives you all the power of gdb in a graphical and intuitive interface plus additional time saving features including automatically saved breakpoints and scriptability.

Widgetarium 1.1b5

Widgetarium 1.1b5

Widgetarium is known as a useful IDE for developing Dashboard widgets, with syntax aware editors for JavaScript, HTML & CSS, widget packager, and Dashboard debugging emulator. more>>

Widgetarium 1.1b5 is known as a useful IDE for developing Dashboard widgets, with syntax aware editors for JavaScript, HTML & CSS, widget packager, and Dashboard debugging emulator.

Major Features:

  1. Syntax Aware Editing: Editing your source code in an environment that provides language sensitive color, code completion, popup functions for easy navigation, split panes, full search & replace (including regular expression support), and all the other features you'd expect in a programming editor.
  2. Project management: Widgetarium is built around a "project" concept - this project file keeps track of all your sources, images, and any other file that you'd want to include in your Widget. It then correctly builds the Widget, setting all the various flags in various files correctly, copies the source files to the correct place, and can install the widget or compress it for uploading (and can even make it trivial to get a good, clean, screen shot of your running Widget)
  3. Dashboard Emulation: Instead of having to run your Widget in Safari or having to constantly kill/reload in Dashboard, Widgetarium provides a built in Dashboard simulator right inside the project. Your Widget code runs just like it would when running in Dashboard, including support for native plug-ins, and all the various Dashboard Widget extensions. Just type command-R and it runs - no switch, reloading, or other error prone extra steps. And if you Widget uses alert() to log messages, they also show up right in the project window(as well as various error messages - no need to dig through the Console).
  4. Widget Inspection: Besides running the Widget, you can also inspect the Widget itself. Since Widgets are effectively small web pages, there are a great many properties that are useful to know about. Widgetarium allows you to directly inspect the Document Object Model (DOM) corresponding to your Widget. Besides seeing the model hierarchy, you can examine the various nodes, including node properties, values, and other things (such as what the calculated style of a node is - great for figuring out why your Widget doesn't look quite right). You can even edit these values (where allowed by the underlying DOM). If you need more flexibility, you can even directly type in JavaScript that will be executed in the context of your Widget (great for adding various debugging routines).
  5. JavaScript Source Level Debugging: Widgetarium provides a full source level JavaScript debugger, allowing you to step through your code (including "step into calls", "step over calls" and "step out of routine"), set break points, see stack crawls, and view/edit local and global variables. Besides regular break points that stop the program execution, you can set trace points (that print out a message to log when that line is executed - far better than adding alert() calls since you won't need to remember to remove them), pause points (that briefly show that current source line), and sound points (play a sound when you hit a line).
  6. Graphic Tools: Programmers are rarely experts at graphic design, so Widgetarium makes it easy to create the basic graphics you'll need to create a Widget. From making the basic panel graphic (in various styles, custom colors, shapes, sizes, including the special "weave textured" back) to special button graphics and the Widget icon image, Widgetarium covers it. It even includes a special "slicer" designed to adapt existing images to be "stretched" at runtime for resizable Widgets or other user elements. Existing images also can be examines, with a special coordinate finder which allows you to see the coordinates of selected areas in a variety of formats that can be use in style sheets.
  7. Ready access to Documentation: There are handy links to a built in document browser that gives you instant access to Dashboard documentation and other related programming documentation (requires either XCode installation or an Internet connection).
  8. Quick Start Templates: Widgets can be created from a starting template, which will make the basic files, images, and standard behavior a Widget.
  9. Special Extensions: Widgets created using Widgetarium have access to special additional routines to perform a wide variety of actions not available to JavaScript. These include creating Spotlight queries, sound and speech, and direct integration of AppleScript scripts with your Widget.

Pace InterLok 5.5

Pace InterLok 5.5

Pace InterLok - electronic software distribution & authorization (iLok) more>>
InterLok for Macintosh provides you, the software publisher, with a comprehensive tool set for customizable copy protection, license management, and license term enforcement. InterLok for Macintosh supports the latest versions of the Mac OS, and top software publishers use it.
InterLok allows you to distribute your software with a variety of methods and then generate, manage, and securely deliver authorizations to run the protected software.
You can build demonstration versions, based on elapsed time or launch counts, which can be converted to full versions with your authorization, or they can simply expire and point the user to your web site. InterLok also provides low-level security against hackers debugging and stealing your application from memory to create a non-protected version.
InterLok gives you choices that best fit your needs based on product distribution and your desire to control the use of your products: try before you buy, registration based authorization, trialware, rental software, and more.
InterLok supports multiple methods of authorization from very low security, such as serial numbers, to node locking challenge/response and XML license files to the iLok USB Smart Key.
InterLok empowers you to remotely enable certain functionality and even specify a license period with the authorization for your end users. For example, you can distribute one set of code and unlock PRO or LITE versions by providing the end user with different tokenized machine-unique codes.
This is a great convenience for your end users because they no longer need to uninstall and reinstall your software to change versions, and it can save your company a great deal of money.
Using InterLok can be as easy as selecting a few settings from the easy-to-use panels, dragging in your graphics for branding the end user experience, saving your options, and selecting the "Protect Software" menu item. You then simply build your installer to include the components that InterLok requires, and you are ready to distribute. Authorizing a small number of customers can be done manually with the InterLok "Satisfaction" application.
You can also automate this process by integrating our tools with your web server that then communicates with your database. PACE supplies you with the necessary tools so you can supply your customers with a seamless web experience. InterLok allows the activation process to be integrated with the launching of your software or with a completely separate application created by you for this purpose: the whole process takes mere seconds to complete.
A simulation feature allows you to test the fruit of your labors so you can make decisions concerning the end user experience. You can also use InterLok to control the authorization of multiple products based on your distributions plans.
InterLok is not only a platform for copy protection, enforcing your end user license agreement, but it is a system that can help you control and manage the software licenses themselves. Having more accurate information about your users will allow you to provide better support to those who legally own it. This system can give you greater flexibility in the way you distribute your products.
InterLok allows you to build your own platform for protecting your revenue from the illegal sharing of you products licenses. Contact PACE Sales to get an evaluation kit today.

    • Miscellaneous improvements to the script editor.
    • Added special "enclosing folder" which can be the destination of move/copy operations. Allows one to move/copy a file or folder up one level.
    • Growl notification action now has an option to make it "sticky" (it will stay on the screen until clicked on). You can still override this in Growl's preferences.
    • Attributes which are lists of items now can use pattern matching in conditions.
    • The "Unarchive" action can now handle RAR files (including multipart archives). Upon successful unarchiving, all the RAR parts will be thrown away and replaced with the unarchived contents.
    • Added support for Transmission and Opera. If the apps are installed, they will appear in the QuickList drop-down when adding a folder.
    • Obsoleting keywords. Keywords are being phased out. If you are using keywords, you should receive a warning about converting your rules as well as a button to take you to a web page that gives more details on why this is being done and how you can migrate over. The page includes a program to convert existing files.
  • User interface changes:
    • Fixed preview not accurately showing results of rules filtering on "Subfolder depth."
    • Fixed custom tokens sometimes not appearing in the attribute lists for actions.
    • Multiple App Sweep windows are now consolidated into one with tabs.
    • Fixed "Reveal in Finder" contextual menu item not working in the App Sweep window.
    • Fixed bugs with the "Kind" menu. Would sometimes get confused when a rule first loaded up, ending up with no "Kind" selected.
    • The warning icon for rules with errors should be more reliable as to when it is displayed (or not displayed).
    • Added "View Log" to menubar icon menu.
    • For unregistered users, menubar icon menu now shows time left in trial.
    • Added "hidden" debug mode checkbox. In the "Info" tab, hold down the option key and the checkbox will appear. Checking this option will enable debug logging.
    • Fixed hitting return in a pattern field sometimes not registering.
    • Error messages in the AppleScript editor are now selectable.
    • Fixed visual indicators on folders in folder list. Those that are inaccessible (on an ejected/unmounted drive) show as faded while those that are just gone (deleted) will have a red "x" on them. They should also have different tool tips explaining their status. Also, they should be better at staying up to date.
    • If a folder is inaccessible (the drive it is on has been ejected/unmounted), the UI will hide menu items to run rules manually.
    • The minute and seconds tokens in the date format interface now default to formatting as two digits.
    • Fixed spring-loaded folders not following Finder preferences on Leopard.
    • Numerous UI tweaks.
  • Core changes:
    • Fixed how custom tokens match text. It won't affect whether a pattern as a whole matches or not. Instead it affects what portion of the text gets "captured" by a custom token. It should now work in a way that makes more intuitive sense. If you use custom tokens, you may want to re-check how things work with the new behavior.
    • App Sweep has been improved to catch even more files.
    • Performance improvements in App Sweep. Scans should be a tad faster now.
    • Should now be able to derive the "Kind" from certain files without extensions that have a Kind assigned to them based on their creator code/file type.
    • Fixed Hazel getting confused when a file with the same filename would appear in a folder over and over again. In such cases, Hazel would think it was the same file.
    • If a file is going to be renamed to the same name, will now skip it so as to avoid updating any timestamps.
    • Fixed Hazel losing track of files on unmounted drives. Hopefully, now, Hazel won't see these files as "new" again when you remount the drive.
    • Should be more responsive after a drive is mounted. If Hazel is monitoring a folder on that drive, its rules will run immediately.
    • Fixed hours being displayed in the range 0-11 instead of 1-12.
    • Fixed crash when trash directory is missing.
    • Fixed crash which occurred with certain Spotlight database schemas.
    • New HZLFolderScanInterval default to override Hazel's scan interval. The value should be specified in seconds.
    • Various other fixes.

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard).
  • Safari, Camino, Firefox or Flock.
  • Spotlight must be enabled.
