Submerge 1.8 description

Submerge 1.8 is a useful software that is designed to help its users create hard-coded subtitled movies for your computer, mp3-player, cellphone or game console with ease. It will merge your subtitle file with your movie and create a new file that is suited for your needs. It supports almost all text-based subtitle formats and you can export the movie for the most common devices with just one click. It also has a fullscreen player built-in, so you can watch the subtitled movie directly within Submerge.

Major Features:

  1. Create subtitled movies that are playable on your computer, portable device or game console.
  2. Add subtitles to almost any visual format like mov, avi, mp4 etc.
  3. Supports the major subtitle file formats like SubRip (.srt), SubViewer 1 & 2 (.sub), SubStation Alpha (.ssa/.ass) and MicroDVD. More about subtitle formats...
  4. Exporter presets for iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, Cellphone, PSP, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.
  5. Support for the Elgato Turbo.264 hardware encoder for faster compression.
  6. Force aspect ratio to 16:9 or 4:3 to use your monitor space more efficiently.
  7. Watch subtitled movies in fullscreen without leaving the application.
  8. Merge multiple movies together using simple copy and paste.
  9. Localized in English, Italian (by Vella Bruno, www.pyxart.it/macsw), French (by Ronald Leroux), Finnish (by Arto Vartiainen), Spanish (by Clapp!, http://clappin.net), Dutch (by Lex van der Helm), Portuguese/Brazilian (by Fabio Roselet), Greek (by Evripidis Argyropoulos), German (by Enrico Richter) and Swedish (by me).

Enhancements:

  • Compatibility with Snow Leopard.
  • Due to a bug in QuickTime X, Submerge will not use the builtin export components for iPhone, iPod or Apple TV when exporting in 10.6 until the bug is fixed.
  • Save and Save as now works from the File menu as in any document based application.
  • The Save button has been removed from the toolbar.
  • Export flattened has been added to the Export to menu.
  • Custom export option in the Export toolbar item.
  • [BUGFIX] Fixed a couple of potential memory leaks.
  • [BUGFIX] Added Windows Media .wmv to the list of possible files to open.
  • [BUGFIX] Window name now correctly set from movie metadata.

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4
