WinShortcutter 2.2 description

Do you work in a Windows dominant environment? Are your network drives packed with Windows Shortcuts that point to directories and documents?
If you want to follow these shortcuts - here is the answer: WinShortcutter!
WinShortcutter can follow Windows Shortcuts and open the corresponding document. If the Shortcut points to another network drive, WinShortcutter will also mount the drive before accessing the link. And if you want to do other Apple users a favor, you can also leave a proper Apple Alias aside of the Shortcut. WinShortcutter works right out of the box. Just doubleclick a link and the corresponding document will open.
If you want to create an alias in addition to following the shortcut, all you have to do is simply activate the option in the system preferences. If your office network also allows AFP mounts, you can change the mount setting as well. Simply access the System Preferences for WinShortcutter.
Main features:
- Enhanced Mapping feature with arbitrary paths (including local paths).
- Clicking on a windows style shortcut (.lnk File) will follow the link. If the shortcut points to a folder, a new finder window will be opened, if the shortcut points to a file, the file will be loaded with the default application for the file. If the shortcut points to a file on the network, the corresponding drive will automatically be mounted, if needed.
- WinShortcutter Service: You can open a textual link sent to you by a windows user by using the service menu. With this release you can also use local directory strings (generated by the Context Menu of WinShortcutter for example).
- Context menu in Finder: The finder context menu has a new menu item to copy filename paths into the clipboard. You can then paste the text into an email.
- Windows Domain Passwords can be changed using the WinShortcutter System Preferences.
- Path Copy now also produces Paths with backslashes () for windows! This behavior is configurable in the System Preferences
- Support for CIFS drives.
- Improved System Preferences with Detail window that can be hidden
Enhancements:
- Alias can be generated with Command double-click, without activating in the System Preferences
- Reworked System Preferences Panel. You can now hide the mapping feature.
- Mapping feature has been enhanced and extended to support arbitrary names and local paths.
- Service menu can now also handle local paths, as generated by the context menu. As a trade in, the menu now needs a correct selection of the string. Strings starting with something different than / or // are no more accepted.
