Springy 1.5.3

Springy 1.5.3 is a powerful and easy-to-use archiving and compression utility for Mac OS X. Springy integrates seamlessly with the Finder and includes some very useful features. All archiving tasks can be done via Drag and Drop or through Springy's Finder contextual menu.

Springy supports the following file types: ZIP, TAR, RAR, PAX, CPIO, CPGZ, DMG, ISO, GZIP, BZIP2, Unix Compress, SIT, JAR, WAR, EAR... Support for more types is planned for future releases.

Major Features:

1. Open and browse the contents of an archive or disk image without extracting any file from it.
2. Quickly extract all files or only files of choice from an archive or disk image.
3. Modify the contents of an existing archive or disk image: add, overwrite, delete and rename files.
4. Full Drag & Drop support for archiving and extracting from and into Finder.
5. Edit and modify any file in an archive or disk image by double click.
6. Archiving and extracting tasks may be accomplished quickly and efficiently using Finder contextual menu.
7. Browsing files in archives and disk images and extracting particular file or folder using hierarchical Finder contextual menu.

Enhancements:

• Testing files for consistency in ZIP and RAR archives.
• Icon and file previews for movie and text-based files are now generated without disturbing main archive processing (application only).
• Consistent behavior in preserving file permission and attributes of modified archives (application only).
• Faster response when pausing and canceling archive processing (especially noticeable with compressed TAR, PAX and CPIO archives).
• Fixed bug which caused Springy application to hang and eventually crash when showing icon and file previews for movie and text-based files (application only).
• Fixed bug in conversion of NTFS file attributes into UNIX file attributes in some ZIP archives.
• Fixed bug which prevented Springy from opening ZIP archives with read-only permission for the current user, and ZIP archives located on the read-only file system (CD/DVD media, NTFS,...).
