MacBoot 1.0.6 description
MacBoot is a program that can replace the boot image that is displayed right after the computer is started (it usually is a gray apple on a gray background). It will automatically determine a suitable color map for the icon or image that you choose and handle the installation of the image.
In Jaguar, the usual happy mac icon was replaced with a big 128 x 128 gray Apple icon. It turned out that it was possible to hack a system file to change it to something more personal. At first, the proceedure was a bit difficult for the average user, but soon tools were created to aid in the process.
MacBoot allows you to change the boot image to any 128 x 128 image, including those downloaded from ResExcellence.com and IconFactory.
Enhancements:
- MacBoot is now compatible with Mac OS 10.2.8 and probably with 10.3.0 Panther.
