HTTP Werkzeug 1.2.3

HTTP Werkzeug is an HTTP send and receive tool, to let you see the HTTP sent by a browser, and show you the HTTP returned by servers.
It allows you to generate HTTP requests to servers, and view the results. It takes care of some of the techicalities for you: Host, Referer and User-Agent request header lines can all be generated for you, and it is supplied with a customisable selection of user-agent lines to choose from.
This makes the task of working with a server a lot easier than using a Telnet client.
You can also have a browser send HTTP Werkzeug a request, and it will show you the HTTP that the browser produced. This allows you to test a server by mimicing the types of requests that different browsers make, the User-Agent line in particular.
Enhancements:
- New menu commands under Request for improved request window operation via the keyboard
- Finally tidied up the interface under Mac OS X; cheers to John Blumer for some late night (my time!) VNC sessions to sort this out even though I have a Tiger machine downstairs
- POST functionality restored [Neerav Modi]
- URLs can be dragged into the address bar, where theyre stripped of erroneous spaces, line breaks and enclosing angle brackets (such as those that originate from e-mails) ready to be accessed. This is confirmed working in 9.1 and X but as soon as Notepad does drag and drop Ill try it in Windows!
- At the end of a transfer, the HTTP content box is scrolled up to the top automatically
- Clear (backspace/delete) and Cut work in the POST settings list box and the menubar correctly updates to show that the listbox takes menu commands
- Removed the VT100 raw character display under Mac OS X - Fix LFs is now implicit and automatic
- Added a few extra exception handlers to catch a possible crash
- One or two other interface tweaks including slightly better control tabbing order under Windows and a number of extra tooltips for Windows and Mac OS X users
- No more “[.../0]” for when Content-Length is not given.
