The thus created information may be exported to EXIF tags as well as to Google Earth KML files. Such a file allows for browsing your photos within Google Earth. You don't need a digital camera with a built-in GPS. You need HoudahGeo, a Mac software solution for geocoding photos with latitude, longitude and altitude information.

HoudahGeo provides the same functionality as a GPS camera, but without having to deal with the bulk or the expense. And - for less money - HoudahGeo does a lot more. You don't need a GPS device. HoudahGeo may operate in a fully automatic mode when provided a track log file from a GPS receiver. Finer control is possible by attaching photos to waypoints created using a GPS device. When no GPS device is available, manual geocoding is possible through integration with the Google Maps service.

2. Automatic geocoding:
   • Geocode images from a GPS track log with a single click. HoudahGeo supports many brands and models of GPS track loggers. For other devices, you need to use third party software to extract GPX or NMEA track logs from the device.
   • HoudahGeo may also geocode photos to the nearest waypoint.
3. Manual geocoding:
   • When no GPS device is available, photos may be geocoded manually by pointing to locations in Google Earth or using the integrated map interface.
4. EXIF/XMP/IPTC export:
   • HoudahGeo may write GPS coordinates and other metadata to EXIF/XMP/IPTC tags of many image formats (JPEG, RAW, DNG, CR2, ...). The visible image itself is not altered in the process. These tags may be read by numerous software products and web services. E.g. iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Panoramio, Flickr, ...
5. Google Earth export:
   • Create a Google Earth KMZ file from your HoudahGeo project. This allows for viewing your photos within Google Earth. This is a terrific way for sharing photos. Dazzle your friends, empower your business. E.g. a real estate agent may publish photos of available properties pinned to the appropriate locations.
6. KML export:
   • Advanced users may opt to create KML files from their HoudahGeo projects. This allows for use in Google Earth, Google Maps as well as other applications supporting the emerging KML standard.

   • Upload your images directly to Flickr.
