The StuffIt Engine SDK allows you to add the power of StuffIt to all your software solutions. Supporting all major compression, archive, and encoding file formats, the StuffIt SDK gives you the power to add compression and decompression tasks directly to your Macintosh application.
Saves and restores item comments - retains Get Info comments on Macintosh files and folders. Ensure that every file remains entact.
The StuffIt Engine SDK is MacBinary III compliant as it supports the latest MacBinary standard. It also provides HFS+ support - saves and restores all new HFS+ file info, including long file names.
Disk image support - includes ability to mount ShrinkWrap and Apples Disk Copy disk images. Makes sharing or distributing information easier for your users.

Enhancements:
- The 12.0 version of the StuffIt SDK added specific file format compressors to the sitx format to support the following file types: jpeg, mp3, bmp, gif, png, tiff, pdf, psd, jpeg2k, jpeg lossless, pict, ptt5 and pxm.
- Also in 12.0, a zip content recompression option was added to the sitx format. This allows the ability to recompress a zip archives content when it is added to a sitx archive. This results in a better overall compression ratio. On expansion the zip archive is reconstructed.
- The Carbon version of the SDK (Version A) that was deprecated in 11.0 is no longer included in the distribution.
