Dot-Loa 2.0
Dot-Loa 2.0 Ranking & Summary
Dot-Loa 2.0 description
Dot-Loa 2.0 is a beneficial and high-speed application which performs these feats primarily by causing the AOL software to execute various functions while AOL is in the background. This is particularly important during AOL's log on procedure.
Normally, while the AOL software is going through the process of dialing your modem, connecting and signing you on, you are "stuck" in AOL. You can't switch to the Finder or another application until AOL has completed the connection process; your Mac just beeps at you if you try. Similarly, when AOL is performing a scheduled Auto-AOL session, it begins by "forcing" its way to the foreground.
If you were busy using another application when this happens, AOL doesn't care; after rudely shoving your other applications out of the way, it then makes you wait idly while it logs on. Only after AOL has successfully connected can you switch it to the background and get back to what you were doing.
Dot-loa solves these problems. It can tell AOL to initiate a log on, or run an Auto-AOL session, without AOL becoming the front application. If AOL isn't the front application on your Mac while it's signing on, it can't "take over" your computer and make you a captive audience to the connection process.
Requirements: America Online for Macintosh 2.6, 2.7, 3.0 or later.
