connecTem 3.0

connecTem is a system which allows to configurate and observe data handling processes. These data handling processes can be connected together to arbitrary chains of data processing.
connecTem system allows you to configurate and observe chains of data processing.
The programs used for data processing, so called Service Providers, can be located anywhere within the overall internet or somewhere in the local intranet. The connecTem system consists of a whole variety of those Service Providers, of the connecTem application and of a communication protocol.
This communication protocol defines the way on how Service Providers communicate with each other and on how Service Providers communicate with the connecTem application.
Possible application areas:
- Text processing of news wire messages and journalist texts: News wire services, letters to the editor, inhouse documents and journalists is a small collection of a huge range of possible text sources an editorial office has to work with. connecTem allows to receive all those different flavoured data, to convert it and to forward it to MacEntur and/or another data archiving system. (see figure 1)
- Log message archiving: Firewalls, web servers, FTP servers, mail servers and many other services produce a huge amount of log data. By using connecTem, those log messages can be collected, processed and stored in a data base. Futhermore, they can be analyzed using appropriate enquiring tools. As an example, log messages could be searched for IP addresses in order to create access statistics or to localize the source of possible hacker attacks.
- Machine status: A lot of industrial machines such as printing devices and packaging robots allow to access a lot of process information. With connecTem, those status information can be read, converted into another data format and stored in a data base for visualization purposes.
- Centralized image conversion: connecTem allows to install a centralized and powerful processing unit for converting images of different types, different resolution, different dimension and so on so a specific image format with predefined image parameters.
