Heres what I think. Sexual orientation is fundamental to the way that everyone comprehends and interacts. Being fewer in number, those of us who are not heterosexual must struggle to lead our lives on equal footing. Whatever lives we pursue, of this I am certain: acceptance and understanding do not develop unless we are visible.

Ribboned Pryde are my very visible icons. Colorful and sleek, they assert "We participate. We contribute. And yes, we have pride in who we are."
