Multiple Pictures 2.0.0 description
Multiple Pictures, an iMovie plug-in, is picture in clips (moving) larger brother. Instead of placing only one picture, you now can place as many pictures as you would like.
As with picture in clip, you will be able to define starting position and size as well as ending position and size, and the plug will generate all sizes and positions in-between. But that is only half of the fun.
When developing the plug, we soon realized that we didnt want all pictures to appear at the same time, nor did we want them to disappear at the same time. thus, for each picture you can define lead-in and pre-exit time.
Main features:
add button:
- pressing this button adds another begin/end pair of rectangles, thus enabling you to define another picture. note that when you press add you will only see the blue start frame, since the end frame is directly beneath it.
del button:
- this button is only available if you have two or more pictures defined. pressing this button will delete the currently selected blue/green rectangles and associated picture.
next button:
- pressing this button will select the next pair of start/end frames (blue/green rectangles) in the list. if you have reached the last pair in the list, the list will loop back to the first in list.
previous button:
- pressing the button will select the preceding pair of start/end frames (blue/green rectangles) in the list. if you have reached the first pair in the list, the list will loop to the last in list.
blue rectangle:
- this rectangle (also called start frame) defines the pictures starting position and size in the clip (i.e. the pictures position and size when it first appears in the clip). to move the rectangle, click inside and drag. to resize, click and drag the handles.
green rectangle:
- this rectangle (also called end frame) defines the pictures ending position and size in the clip (i.e. the position and size it assumes before it disappears from the clip). to move the rectangle, click inside and drag. to resize, click and drag the handles. initially, this rectangle will not be visible because it is obscured by the red start frame.
- to switch between rectangles either click on the switch button (<->), or click outside the currently active (the one with handles) and inside the other rectangle.
modify pop-up:
- this menu allows you to switch between the start and end rectangle (you can also switch directly by clicking into the desired rectangle).
grey rectangles:
- if you have more than one picture defined, only one pair of red/green frames can be active at any one time. all other frames will be displayed as grey outlines. to directly switch to an inactive frame, simply click outside both red and green frames and inside the desired grey frame. alternatively, you can use the previous and next buttons to select the frame you want. note that when you click on a grey frame, both currently active frames (red and green) become inactive, and both inactive frames (red and green) become active.
time IN:
- this setting applies only to the currently active frame set. with this you define (in percent of the clips total length) how long (from the start of the clip) the plug should wait until displaying (and animating) the picture.
time OUT:
- this setting applies only to the currently active frame set. with this you define (in percent of the clips total length) how long before the end of the clip the plug should stop displaying the picture.
frame:
- this slider allows you to set the frames size. it only applies to the current frame. when set to zero (far left), there will be no frame.
pict:
- click this button to choose a picture from your disk. any format that quicktime supports can be opened: jpg, pict, gif, bmp, ... if your gif supports transparency, this will be applied as well.
keep props:
- if you choose this option, the pictures frame will always re-adjust its size to preserve the original pictures size. note that you can switch this independently for red and green and independently again for any frame set.
frame color:
- if you want the picture to be framed, heres where you choose the pictures frame color
preview picture button:
- this checkbox is purely for interface purposes. Instead of working with frames, you can opt to show the currently active picture inside the active frame. note that the picture is only shown inside the currently active frame of the currently active frame pair. this is intentional to allow you to better position your pictures.
opacity:
- this controls the opacity of your pictures. it controls each frames transparency. note that two overlapping frames will have their opacities added.
