The Avid Xpress Pro 5.5 software offers professional video, audio, film, effects, and encoding tools – plus custom music creation software – for both Mac and PC platforms in a single box.

The software supports native HDV and DVCPRO HD for acquisition, editing, and output; real-time effects and 2:3 pulldown insertion over FireWire; and Avid DNxHD encoding to create effects, transitions, and titles with uncompromised image quality. Avid’s unique Open Timeline enables users to mix HDV, DVCPRO HD, and Avid DNxHD formats with SD and DV media in the same timeline in real-time, eliminating the time-consuming process of incorporating media from multiple sources into a single project.

Whats New in This Release:

· Due to changes in Avid Xpress Pro 5.5.x (Mac), some third party AVX plug-ins may not load properly. This is due to moving the Avid editors to Xcode from CodeWarrior 9 for future support of the new Mac Intel based systems. Customers may need to upgrade their AVX plug-ins. Please note that Avid has informed Thirds Party partners of this change. Third Party AVX plug-ins that have not been updated, will not be supported in this release. Please reference the Knowledge Base tech note on this topic for updated information.
· When exporting QuickTime movies from the editor with the "Same as Source" option selected, customers will no longer experience longer export times with QuickTime 7.1 and Xpress Pro v5.5 or higher.
· A change in the 1394 (FireWire) bus of the new Apple dual core Power Mac G5 systems requires an update to your Avid editor application and Avid Mojo or Avid Mojo SDI firmware. If you attempt to attach an Avid Mojo to your new dual core Power Mac G5 system prior to following the steps outlined in the ReadMe document included in this download, the system will not recognize the Avid Mojo and you will not be able to run the Avid editor application.
