ScreenSteps 1.1.1 description
Everyone loves visual documentation. It is so much easier to see a picture of what you need to do as opposed to reading lengthy instructions.
ScreenSteps makes creating visual training almost effortless:
1. Capture each step of the process you are trying to teach. The images are automatically sequenced in the order you took them. Crop images and add highlights to focus on the pertinent areas of the screen
2. Go back and add text describing each step. You shouldnt have to write too much since the pictures will show each step of the process.
3. Export your lesson to PDF or HTML. You can even create your own HTML and XML templates.
Thats all. You can literally create visual, detailed lessons in 5 to 10 minutes.
Screen recordings are great for product demos and introductions but if used incorrectly they can become ineffective and cumbersome to create. They are also nearly impossible to update if your software changes. You almost always have to start over again from scratch.
So we suggest you do what we do: use screen recordings for what they are good for - product demos - but create your documentation in ScreenSteps. It will take you much less time and will be more useful to your customers.
Main features:
- Built in screen capture
- Crop Tool
- Annotation Tools: Circle, Square, Rounded Square
- Adjust annotations at any time (non-destructive annotation)
- Integrates with third party screen capture applications such as SnagIt (Windows) and Snapz (Mac).
- Integrates with any image editor
- Automatically sequences your captures in the order you took them
- Easily reorder or replace images
- Assemble your steps in Thumbnail view and then add text in Preview mode for a better view of your images
- Export to PDF, HTML or your own custom HTML/XML templates
Enhancements:
- Depending on when ScreenSteps polled the system clipboard, QuickTime on OS X wasnt always reporting that the clipboard had an image on it when copying frames from movies. A workaround has been implemented.
- The Open last opened project preference was not working.
- Some Swedish characters were being converted to lower case on export.
- On Mac OS X if you closed the ScreenSteps lesson window and then tried to create a new lesson using the File menu nothing would happen. If you tried to open a lesson using the File menu ScreenSteps would crash.
- Circle or rectangle annotations with borders turned off would not resize correctly.
