OpenLaszlo 4.4

OpenLaszlo 4.4 is a useful program which provides you an open source platform for creating zero-install web applications with the user interface capabilities of desktop client software.

OpenLaszlo programs are written in XML and JavaScript and transparently compiled to Flash and, with OpenLaszlo 4, DHTML. The OpenLaszlo APIs provide animation, layout, data binding, server communication, and declarative UI.

An OpenLaszlo application can be as short as a single source file, or factored into multiple files that define reusable classes and libraries.

Enhancements:

• Internet Explorer oddities have been resolved, such that it works similarly to FireFox and Safari.
• Context menus have been updated to work with DHTML.
• You can now use non-latin characters (such as Chinese and German) in CSS styles by using utf8 file encoding.
• DHTML now includes the "standard" debugger console, just as swf8 and swf9 do.

• • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or greater. Note that the OpenLaszlo Developer Kit requires the Java SDK, since Jakarta Tomcat, the servlet container that ships with it, needs the Java SDK.
  • A Java Servlet container supporting at least version 2.2 of the Java Servlet Specification. This is only required for OpenLaszlo Core. OpenLaszlo Developer Kit ships with Tomcat 5.0.24.
