So you and your Elder made it through rain and snow in Silkwood. Well, weve added another dimension to the game. Resources. In SilkWood Spring, instead of collecting berries to later be traded for tools, you now have to grow plants and chickens instead.
And that requires for you to maintain the correct temperature and amount of rain.With SilkWoods Real-Weather system, youll have to search around the globe to find the right conditions for resources you want to grow. Failing to do so will cause your plants and chickens to die.
The Legend of the Burning Tree
No one is really sure when the Six Elders descended on earth. But ask anyone and theyll tell you that it cant be more than a year after the Great Drought started. The drought caused crop failure on a massive scale. Most farms lost all of their topsoil and consequently most of the trees perished.
A small farm about 56 miles northwest of Prague was the only one that was spared from this calamity. As told in the legend, this farm was saved by the Elders. And as a sign to the people, the Elders set a tree on fire which burned for 10 years straight! The fire served as a beacon for the hopes and dreams of mankind in its darkest hour.
Environment
The environment in SilkWood Spring is linked in many ways to the real world. Players can set the current weather in SilkWood Spring to anywhere in the world. Once set, the game will then be affected by such things like temperature, rain, snow and other weather conditions.
Flowers now grow and die depending on real-world precipitations. The real-world temperature even has an effect on the type of flowers that grow. Leaves blow across the farm and windmill spin. All based on real-world wind speed.
There are also chickens that need to be raised in SilkWood Spring. They multiply in warm weather, but will go in the barn when it starts raining. Theyre out at dawn and in at dusk. Butterflies are also new creatures in SilkWood Spring. They prefer daylight and are found in the greatest number late in the afternoon.
Hazards
SilkWood Spring features a complex biology in which the Elder must maintain a certain body temperature. The heat that the body needs is created by the food that the Elder eats. Diseases in SilkWood Spring can disrupt this biology and cause the Elder to get sick, loose body heat and eventually go into a coma.
