Oxford English 1.21 Ranking & Summary
Oxford English 1.21 description
Oxford English 1.21 is created as a very useful widget which gives immediate access to headwords, pronunciation and word-class information. No Internet access is required to use the widget, as all information will be stored locally.
Noah Webster, the illustrious American lexicographer, published his first dictionary in 1806 and several more during the following three decades. After his death, his work was revised and supplemented, and a 1913 edition called Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary is now coming to Mac OS X as an integrated part of the built-in Dictionary application. A century after its initial publication, Webster’s 1913 edition usefully complements the default OS X dictionary with etymologies, literary quotes and encyclopedic information.
An initial demo version is available for download. To install, simply uncompress the zip file (this may happen automatically after download) and move the resulting Webster 1913.dictionary to a folder called Dictionaries (create it if it does not exist already) inside your Library folder in your home folder (the one with a house icon).
Please note that only words starting with the letter A are available in this demo download, and that the final version will contain many fixes and enhancements.
