Mike's Media 1.1a  is a very flexible and effective tool which plays and displays dozens of media file formats (including web-linked movies)

1. Define playlists via a directory (folder) rather than individual files
2. Directories are auto-scanned for playable files, and keeps up to date with changes made in the Finder
3. The hierarchy of folders and sub-folders created in the Finder is reflected in the interface
